The book was in the POV of a girl. There was a girl she used to be friends with that called both the MC and their guy friend before crashing her car and dying. Neither the MC or the guy answered their phone and I think most of the book revolved around the MC trying to figure out why the girl was trying to call her, being that they hadn't talked in a while. I know this is vague, but maybe someone will know what I'm talking about!

I read it probably about 5 or 6 years ago, and it was probably released around that time.

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson has a character that calls MC and a guy before she dies. But it's not a car crash.
Wintergirls! That's the one I was thinking of. For some reason I don't have it shelved.
