SOLVED. Adult romance about a merman prince searching for a lost mermaid princess [s]

I had this book a couple years ago but lost it and I'm trying to find it again but I forgot what the book was called and who the author was. It is an adult romance about a merman prince who wants to take over his fathers position in ruling but he needs to complete a task to prove himself. Another high official merman had a daughter with a human woman, but when he went to take the baby with him the mother fled with the baby inland so he could not find the baby. The official died and it was his dying wish that they find his daughter.
The mom I think fled to Kansas or some other state that is in the middle of the country and opened a beach gift shop and when the mom dies she left a letter explaining why the daughter never met her father and where the father and mother met if the daughter wanted to find her father. The prince has to find the girl because she inherits the merman official's position making her a mermaid princess the prince finds her with the help of a bird it was either a flamingo, pelican, or seagull. The prince uses som kind of lotion on his tail to get feet and it was called like poseidon's or triton's potion that will give him feet for awhile but if he does not get his feet back in the water the he will have feet permanently. The prince and princess travel to the place where her parents met and they both begin to fall in love with each other. But faction in the mermaid city don't want her back so they hire assassins and try to kill her before she can return to the city and claim her position or maybe they are trying to kill the prince and I can't remember the reason why the where going to kill them but there were sharks involved and in the end the princess got her tail it was pink and the princes tail evolved becoming bigger and stronger like his fathers and they married in the end. Please help me find this book it is not a young romance book there are sex scenes in this book and it is part of a series where one book is about the prince's brother who was born with legs and gave up the chance to have a tail and long life to be with a human woman.

Could be #2. Reviewers on Amazon say, "Rod has to find Valerie who is a hybrid - half Mer and half human. Her father was from the Mer world although Valerie had never known this. I don't know the book but having grown up in Kansas I'm amused by the thought of someone opening a beach shop there :D
