As usual, reviews in The Guardian and The New York Times were both useful starting points for me. I do tend to read brief reviews before I read the book, as a way to orient myself.The Guardian review:

I'm about halfway through the novel and can't decide what I think. I'm intrigued by the unique format, but at the same time finding it slow. It reads like a memoir, which is one of my least favorite genres. But it's also an important story to tell. I will finish it and I appreciate the story for what it is, but it's not one I've been excited to pick up.
