I love historical fiction, non-fiction (especially classical music books, history and travel and adventure stories), dystopia, and also some YA.
Hi Claire and Elise, welcome to the group!
Claire, we have some group reads you may enjoy, as they fit into some of what you like to read.
Elise, we have plenty of challenges for you to stay motavaited! I usualy plan my books for them myself!

Hi thank you. I actually read from lots of different genres but those are my main go to's :)
Thank you, looking forward to exploring this group!
Hi Eleanor, and welcome! I am like you with an enjoyment of paper books and sci fi! We have many different challenges, games and group reads here, so feel free to browse around and ask any questions you may have! One of us mods will help you!

Hi, my name is Rosemarie. I like reading and travelling, and am a granny of two. I am looking forward to doing some of the mini-challenges, since it is already October and too late to start any major challenges.
Hi Rosemarie! I hope you enjoy our mini challenges, and there is always next year for the big ones!
Thanks, I am looking forward to next year's long term challenges. I plan on completing a couple of mini challenges this year.

My name is Karin and I live in Belgium. I am absolutely hooked on reading and have started to take an interest in classics. I also love fantasy and crime novels. Since this autumn I started to challenge myself to read all the 100 books from a list the BBC made of the best books ever. It probably will take me a few years. The most surprising book so far from that list is I think Wuthering Heights. I absolutely hated reading it, but when I finished it I broke down in tears because it made such an impact. I love it when a book takes me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
I'm looking forward to participate in challenges and maybe in some discussions (that might take a little while because I'm a bit (very) shy). You are always welcome to add me as a friend.

I fell in love with reading when my Aunt bought me my first book, The Wizard of Oz. My mom actually thought something was wrong with me - while all my friends were out playing in the summer, I would be reading.
I have been challenging myself to read different genre's and so far - that challenge has gone well.
I am currently not working as I help care for my 86 year old mother-in-law - so I have a ton of time to read.
I've been on Goodreads for a couple of years but never participated in any groups as Facebook was my favorite social media outlet. However, during the election it got so nasty on Facebook, I decided to leave and concentrate on making acquaintances here - where people share my passion.
Thank you so much for accepting me in your group. I look forward to participating!!
Hi, Marianne. Welcome. I have been on goodreads for almost a year now and have really increased the variety of books I've read and enjoyed the on-line friendly and positive interactions. The challenges are addictive-you have been warned!

Had a hectic year in 2016 with a young baby and busy time at work, but I love reading as a way to wind down and relax.

Hi, Dawn. Welcome to the group. I first started doing challenges about a year ago, and they are lots of fun. I have also learned about some great books from other members' challenges.

At the moment I am reading the books by A.S. Chambers that are about the Paranormal Private Investigator Sam Spallucci and his world. At the moment this is all I can think of saying except.
Hello There, and thanks for reading my little post.
Paul.

I read lots of things, but have recently got stuck in something of a Napoleonic era Historical Fiction rut, so hope the challenges might help me to read some of the other books on our shelves. I'm also interested in the decade challenge as most stuff I read is quite recent.
Looking forward to 2017!
Hi Alex, that sounds like an interesting era to read about! I hope you enjoy our challenges, and welcome to the group!

Happy New Year to everyone
Hi, Lindsay. Welcome to the group. The challenges really are a great way to read more in a fun way. And Happy New Year to you as well.

Thank you for the warm welcome Rosemarie
Hi Lindsay! Yes, the challenges are very fun. I've found a lot of new books that way! Enjoy the group!

I tend to read autobiographies these days from any reality z lister or folk from a sporting background, but I am ready to delve into something a bit more gripping now!
Lucas, welcome! I'm sure you will find lots of challenges to fit how you want to read this year!

My goal for this year is to read 52 books. I like various genres but my favourites are non-fiction, fantasy and scandinavian crime. Also I'd like to try something new and I find your challenges very helpful.
Welcome, Karolina. Can you recommend any Polish authors(available in English)? I enjoy reading books from all over the world.

Absolutely! What genre or topic interests you the most? I will send you some authors' names by the message.

I'm Maëva, 17, french. I'm studying art, and I read a lot of different things.
I love challenges, but I may not do any here as I have 4 of them started on another group, and I tend to forget to update the challenges, or which challenges I actually picked...
Hi, nice to see you here. I know what you mean about the difficulty of keeping track of challenges. I find that when I read a book, I think about which challenges it can be used for. If it doesn't fit any, I read it anyway, of course.

A newbie in reading novels and books here...excited to take up new challenges for reading more and more books !!
I like motivational, inspirational and self help books mainly ..
Thanks.
Hi, Amélia! You may want to take a peek in the Personal Goals 2017 folder to see how some people are using this to keep track of the challenges in which they participate. It's an option, not a requisite.
Glad to have both you and Suneet join us here.
Glad to have both you and Suneet join us here.

I hope I can make some friends here and I LOOOOVE the idea of reading challenges! Plus this group is the UK?? (I'm not sure how that works since I thought the internet was universal ;) but that's what the group info told me lol). So does anyone have suggestions for good European authors? I'd love to expand my horizons!!
