Leslie, I'll be putting up a general announcement of the layout/set-up of 2016 either today or tomorrow. We just need to finalise a few things!
As for now, I'd recommend getting involved with some threads, or making your 2016 Personal thread, like Renee said. :)

I plan on joining a few readathons I can and I'll definitely be participating in the group reads from January! :) Can't wait x

I enjoy reading all sorts of different books. I also love challenges that encourage me to read things I wouldn't normally try. Hopefully I'll find that here.
Welcome Genna and Hannah!
We're currently gearing up for 2016 so you'll see new challenges and things going up soon!
Hope you enjoy 2016 with us! :)

Some of the books I really enjoyed in 2015 were:
Everything I Never Told You,
Wild,
The Shock of The Fall,
Dept of Speculation
How to be both
The handmaids tale
I also like listening to podcasts like 'The Readers ' and ' Books on the Noghtstand'
Hello to all newcomers! We're busily setting up for 2016, so keep your eyes open for new challenges, polls, and information. It's gonna be a great year!!!

My name is Angie. I am an AVID reader of books--all books. I prefer horror/paranormal/sci-fi/fantasy...but have on occasion picked up a biography or two...not to mention romances, travel books, inspirational, etc.
Because of my love of reading, it was only natural that I would become an author as well. I have written a Christian Devotional book called JESUS LOVES US EVEN THOUGH. You can find it on amazon.
I am in the editing process of my second book, SPREAD YOUR WINGS AND FLY, a 6-week Bible Study Guide.
I have recently discovered that I enjoy reviewing books for others as well.
I'm looking forward to the new year and all the wonderful books we're going to read together.

Happy new year! x

Happy new year and happy reading :) xx

Looking forward to participating in the group!
Hi, Sonia! Glad to have you with us! Yes, we're always trying to push our own envelopes and try new things. It's a lovely supportive group. I think you'll like it here. :)

It's great that you're finding your way around. We have a Questions thread if you have any. There's always a lot going on. Take your time and settle in. It's a happy place to be. :)

Hi, I'm new to the group. I'm Shelly and I'm a bookaholic! I love to read just about anything I can get my hands on. Looking forward to making friends and finding new books.

I'm from Lancaster, UK. I mostly read science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and history; but also anything that seems interesting.
I was motivated to look for groups to join as last year I took part in an online readathon, and probably spent about the same amount of time as usual but spent a lot of the time discussing reading with people and it was a lot of fun.

I'm from the UK and I mostly read sci-fi, fantasy, historical or stuff that catches my eye.
Looknig forward to meeting lots of people and finding new books! <3 -Grace

Now trying to collect the 100 classics and see how much I have left out during the years. Any help would be much appreciated!
I am born in Croatia, lived for a long time in Austria, but now living in Ireland.
Have a nice day!
Take your time, Vicky. There is a lot going on here but you choose what you're interests in. Start with the How To Use This Group thread. Take a peek at our Group Reads. Then just browse around. There's no rush and plenty of friendly people. So glad you're here.
You, too, Lee. Welcome! ;)

I'm happy to have found this group.
My fav. books contain "Gone Girl" but also "1984".
I enjoy reading and discussing books within a group of avid readers and am looking forward to the group discussions.
Welcome, Ladies!
Amanda,
I was in exactly your place three years ago. The GoodReads site really helped. It's great to have a place to get ideas and talk about books.

My name's Rylie, and I'm really glad I found your group. :)
Favorite types of books include romance of most kinds (PR, historical, some contemporary,) just about all YA, especially distopian, fantasy, supernatural, just about anything with time travel in it, I go in and out of enjoying hard SF. A new genre I've been enjoying is fairy tale retellings of any kind. It's hard to narrow it down to favorites; I love so many. :)
I'm glad you have different genres and world lit challenges. I think it'll help me to read outside of what I am usually interested in. I can read extremely quickly, so reading a lot isn't going to be what challenges me. It's reading books that I don't think I'll enjoy, but then I usually do end up liking in the end. That's why I want to join challenges.
I'm almost a month in to the year, but that won't keep me down. :D
Can't wait to meet and connect! :)

I'm new to this group.
I like reading various genres but I'm trying to challenge myself this year by reading some classics, as well as up my reading time generally.
I've set myself a target of 25 books for the year, not many to some but last year I read 14, so its a leap for me. I'm on book 6 so far.
I've joined the alphabet soup mini challenge and I might join in the 'Alternate read' in March for March as its a classic.
Looking forward to new reads....

I am the same way about my number of books to read in a year and how much is actually read. This year I lowered my number to 15 because I anticipated not having much time to devote to my concentrated serious reading. I guess I average about 20-25 books a year normally.

I will read just about anything as long as it is interesting and holds my attention. If I had to pick a favorite book it would probably be the entire Harry Potter series.

I am UrumPen(Pen name) from India. And am a newcomer to social media. I am releasing my first book titled "Pierced Souls" on 27th March 2016 through Amazon KDP. My website is piercedsouls.com.
Tha manuscript unfolds a plethora of treasures from the Bible that eluded our understanding for the last two millenniums. I assure that this book shall captivate you irrespective of your beliefs and shall reinforce the belief in God.Thank you

'The future of everything'
'Probably approximately correct'
'Fermat's enigma'
'Thinking fast and slow'
'Social physics'
etc.
and recently I have visited Caltech and got 'Six easy pieces' by Richard Feynman from its bookstore. It was a fun read as well to peek at his perspective on basic physic concepts differently and uniquely.
I have been reading books like a hermit:) so I always wanted to have partners whom I can share any thoughts or ideas gleaned from the books I read. Boom! I found Goodreads and this group! I'm looking forward to getting actively involved in challenges and activities!

On the other hand, I also love very interesting scientific and historical books!
Some of my fave books:
-A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
-Harry Potter series (yes, I know its not one book)
-Catcher in the Rye
-The Kite Runner
-Jane Eyre
-1984
-Kira Kira
Although I'm a teenager, I tend to not like YA books as much as more mature books (ex. I would definitely rather read any of the listed above rather than Percy Jackson or the Divergent series).
I'm hoping to find more heart-wrenchingly devastating books and more "Wow, I never knew that!" books this year. Also, I want to read more poetry since I love reading and writing poetry.
Basically I will read any absorbing and passionate books.
For now, I'm just trying to remember all the books I've read and review them...quite a challenge in itself! ;)
Hello, Newest Members! There are lots of things to explore and people who will share your interests no matter the genre. We're a very diverse and friendly group.

I just started using Goodreads, and I'm still trying to figure out how to join groups or find friends.
I enjoy YA, fantasy, fiction, and occasionally some sci-fi.
I hope to find some interesting books to read with the help from this group.

As for those, there will be an announcement of what to expect soon. Probably during the holidays when we Mods have a little time away from work/school.
