My name is Britta and, like others, this is my first group on Goodreads. I'm a little shy, but this seems like a nice, fun place. I'm 27 and am an American living in Paris, France, so finding books in English is a little bit of a challenge (recently misplaced my Kindle - tragedy!).
My goal for the year is 25 books, but it looks like I'll surpass that. The best books I've read so far this year have been books 1 and 2 of Hilary Mantel's Thomas Cromwell series, Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. (And if you haven't yet, check out the BBC adaptation -- stunning work).
Aside from Mantel's series, my two other favorite books that I've read this year have been Misery by Stephen King (I'm a big horror fan) and Endgame: Bobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall - from America's Brightest Prodigy to the Edge of Madness (I'm also a big fan of biographies).
I'm a nonfiction author and am working on a biography, although it seems like it will be finished "later" rather than "sooner". My favorite book of all time is Seven Pillars of Wisdom: A Triumph by T.E. Lawrence.
Very excited for this group and especially for the mini-challenges and bingo games! Thank you!

I'm Jenny and I read just about anything. I have a bad habit of getting distracted by pretty covers haha. I enjoy clasic lituture and I hope to get through at least a few of Jane Austen this year, but I have decided to make an index card box full of all the book titles I own but have not read (a huge list) and decide what to read that way haha. I have read 93 books out of 100 for this year so far. Looking forward to next month for the group reads- I think I'll use the rest of this month to clean up the books I've started.

My name's Marina, I'm 33, from Italy. I'm a professional technical translator. I studied languages at University and this allows me to read in different languages, which I think is great, I love reading in the original language.
I love various genres: literary fiction, mystery, crime, psychology non-fiction, and so on. I will read almost anything apart from paranormal and things like that, but I'm prepared to try everything at least once.
I'm already a member of other great challenge groups here on GR, but I decided to join one more, since I love challenges and I love chatting about books with other like-minded bookworms.
My goal for this year is 110 books, but GR says I'm a bit behind schedule as I have "only" read 60 so far. Next year I will start my own thread with books read, not this year, though, since it's already almost over.

I am merely a teenager who loves to read
I read books of all genres depending on my mood

On the personal side, I live in the US in California, am retired from office work, have two adult sons, and love books. I have been told I will read anything with words. Currently I am working on two book blogs and read and review.

I just wanted to formally say hi and introduce myself as a new member. I'm Lisa Ann and recently noticed this group has a lot of activity going on with planning for 2016, so it seems that I picked a great time to join. I tend to get overwhelmed with annual challenges that have a lot of specific rules but love the idea of mini challenges. Otherwise, I enjoy reading a variety of genres, especially fiction, and love to join in on discussions with other enthusiatic readers as often as my schedule allows.

Welcome, Julie and Stephanie! You're just in time to be in on the planning for 2016. Take your time and explore, there's a lot going on. Glad to have you aboard!

I typically read History, Biography, Autobiography, Science and Nature, Sports, World Religions but especially Christianity, Spirituality, Cooking, Environmental Concerns, Classics, and Writers from other countries. I have been trying to read classics from my country as well as those of other countries
I try to read a mix of Nonfiction and Fiction..
Looking forward to reading along with you.
I think you'll fit right in here, Leslie. While you wait for the start of the new year, take a look around, take a peek at the archives for an idea of what to expect, and start your own personal goal thread if you want a place to keep track of your activities. Nothing is mandatory. Except encouraging other members and having a nice time.
