Hi, Ashton, welcome to the group. I have been trying to read more science fiction in recent years.
You're welcome, Chrissie. I have never been that far north in Germany, since all my relatives live in the southern part of Germany, but I really want to go there.
My name is Nancy and we live in New Jersey. I have been an avid reader a since I was small. Since I was an only child growing up in Manhattan, books were my siblings. Even today they are the best way for me to meet new people and travel the world. I look forward to meeting other members of these groups.
Welcome, Nancy! I am an only child too, but I grew up in a very small town. Books have always played a big role in my life!
Hi, Christina. Welcome to the group. We have a wide variety of challenges to choose from to help you read more.
Hi all. I'm Claire. I live in Colorado but I was born and raised in the northwest. I joined this group because I have way, way, WAY too many books on my too-read shelf and am graduating in a few weeks, so I have plenty of time to start making my way through them! I also have way too many challenges all over to keep track of, and want to do my best to meet as many as possible. I figured this would be a good place to start. My goal is to read 2 books a week for 104 this year, I have also set goals to read books by women authors, around the world, nonfiction, and sci fi/fantasy. I love pretty much any kind of literature but my favorites are probably historical fiction and books that teach a specific subject/textbook types. I like to learn stuff, any stuff! Right now I am reading Do They Hear You When You Cry by Fauziya Kassindja, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft, and Mara, Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw. I can't wait to see what you all are planning for 2020!
Welcome to our group, Claire.
You are a great fit for our group, since many of us have way too many on our shelves or to-read lists.
We have a variety of challenges and you can keep track of them all on your own personal thread.
Happy reading!

Hi, my name is Jianna. I'm 16 and I'm super into sci-fi and adventure novels, and my friend and I are working on a sci-fi screenplay together. I've never joined a group before and I'm a little nervous but you all seem super nice and I'm looking forward to reading with you :)
Thanks Jianna. Welcome to our group. I hope you make yourself at home here. We have lots of fun.
It's cool that you and your friend enjoy writing as well as reading.

My name is Lindsey and I live on reading. I have been reading since a young age. I love anything related to Doctor Who and Marvel along with YA, Stephen King, history, and memoirs/biographies. I generally will read anything that can catch my attention and pull me in. I just finished my thesis for my masters and the last several months I was unable to read due to completing the thesis but now I'm done and looking for a teaching job and want to get back into my normal reading. And what better way then some reading challenges.
Welcome, Lindsey. It must be a relief to be able to read what you want. Good luck on your job hunting.
We have lots of fun challenges for all kinds of books. Happy reading!

Hi, I'm Masha, I'm 23 and my favorite genre is fantasy. I joined this group because I want to keep up with reading when I have class and I enjoy challenges. Also, I would like to read more diversely than just reading fantasy books with the occasional sci-fi, as well as reading more diverse in terms of representation.
Hi, Masha. Welcome to the group. We have a wide variety of challenges to help you read a variety of books. Happy reading!
Hi everyone! I’m Suveyda. I love reading books and talk about them. I’m into classics and psychological books. My favourite autor is Stefan Zweig.
I just wanted to say hi and I’m glad to be here. :)
Hey I’m Desiree! I would consider myself new to the reading world... I prefer to write. I’m glad I found this website and group I wouldn’t have known where to start lol. If y’all would be so kind as to recommend some good reads? I’m not into Fantasy books, I don’t know how many people have thrown Harry Potter at me haha. Thank y’all in advance 😇
Hi, Desiree. Welcome to our group. We have lots of different challenges, but a good to get recommendations is our monthly genre challenge, where we share books we are reading.
The January genres are comtemporary books/authors, literary fiction and memoirs. No fantasy this month!

Hi, I'm Deanie, and after not reading much last year, I'm getting really into reading challenges this year. My favorite genres are mystery (particularly cozy ones) and scifi/fantasy.
Welcome to our group, Deanie. We have lots of fun challenges, including for your two favourite genres, to get you reading more.
Welcome to all our new members.
Just to let you know, you can do multiple rounds of our maxi challenges, with labels Round 1, Round 2, and so on.
Happy reading, everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm Harvey, I'm in Texas. I read primarily horror and other dark things. I'm trying to read more books from different countries this year, mainly novels originally published in languages other than English. My goal is to read 60 books this year but hopefully I surpass that, haha.
Welcome, Harvey! We have lots of challenges that should help you surpass that goal. Make yourself at home!
Hello to the group !As introduction, my name is Brenda. I hail from the Detroit area of Michigan in the U.S. I am a bit of a Francophile, will read most anything if well written and interesting but lean towards classic lit.
I have recently returned to Goodreads after a many year absence.
I am new to the groups but look forward to reading along and participating in some lively discussion.
Hi, Brenda. Welcome to the group! I hope you have fun doing challenges and talking about books with us.
Hi All. My name is Dylan from Indiana. I am trying to get back into reading so made it a goal to read at least 12 books this year. I’m already in my third. Been reading the Cicero trilogy from Robert Harris and have been loving it.
Hi, Dylan. Welcome to the group! We have lots of fun challenges to help you reach your goal--and maybe beyond!
Hi group, My name is Jane. I have 2 retirement passions. One is reading. Love a good romance, comtemoary, historical, shifter & time travel. My non-fiction interest is brain studies on how young children learn. Love a good picture book ~ three favorites Bark George & This Troll, That Troll & Pickle Things. Like lots of variety but no fantasy or si-fi. I read at least 200 books most years.I am currently living in Florida with my 100 yo mom, but my home is in North Carolina. My other passion is designing & making beaded jewelry with tiny tiny beads. Retired in 2012 after over 40 years as an child development educator.
Welcome to the group, Jane. It sounds you are just as busy now as when you were working. I retired over seven years ago and am really enjoying the extra reading time. I help look after my grandkids when needed, especially my grandson. We have had him two days a week since he was one, but now he's nine so it's a lot easier since he's in school.
Happy reading and have fun doing our challenges!

Hello, my name is Melinda! I've loved reading since I was young, especially thriller or suspense novels, however I'm trying to branch out and read more genres such as fantasy. I've always wanted to join a readathon, but I've been too nervous to as I'm a bit shy. I'm very new to goodreads and posting to discussions, so please forgive me if I'm making any errors!
Melinda, welcome to our group. We are very friendly and relaxed here so there is no need to feel shy.
We have lots of fun challenges to keep you busy reading and posting on goodreads.

Hello all! I am so excited to have found your group. I am a BIT reading challenge obsessed and I am thrilled by all your selections. Mystery and thriller is my favorite genre, but I also love short stories, fiction, a bit of sci-fi, plays, really whatever... :)
Welcome, Vanessa! You have come to the right place for reading challenges!
Happy reading from another challenge addict!

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I'm a reader from the US who's gotten into book again since about 2016, when I started the goodreads challenge to keep myself from using the computer and TV too much. I love most kinds of genres, but I'm picky about follow through and execution of the book (and if its pg-13 or not!). Other than that, I'll read most book genres except romances and horror (with the occasional exception!). Oh, and poetry. Not a huge fan. But one day, who know?
Thanks for reading! Best wishes on everyone's challenges!

oh yeah! And my favorite books are The Bears famous invasion of Sicily, Love and First sight, The mixed up files of Mrs Basil e frankenweiler, anything Roald Dahl, Dear Mr. Knightly, and more!
Hi all! My name is Jamie from the Netherlands and my new year's resolution is to read more books. Originally I wanted to start off with 52 books (which is 52 more than I read last year and the year before). But after watching a few YouTube videos about book recommendations and reviews I increased the number to 100 books! I'm curious to see how many books i'll actually read this year because as i'm writing this post i'm 2 books behind schedule. Oops! Still enjoying it though!
My favorite genre is definitely Fantasy. Most of my books on my TBR are in fact fantasy & young adult. I made a personal thread over at the, well, personal thread section, which is 90% fantasy I believe. There are a couple of classics on my TBR list although I do find them quite difficult to read so i'm not sure if i'll enjoy them but we'll see!
Welcome to our group, Jamie! I hope you succeed in your challenge and have fun doing our challenges.
Hi, I’m yeng from Japan.. i read any kind of genres, but I love historical fiction and mystery thriller most.. thanks letting me join this group
Hi, Yeng! Welcome to our group. Make yourself at home and have fun doing our challenges. Happy reading!
Hi, I am new to this group. I live in the alligator capital of the US in Florida. I am an avid reader but have noticed since I started reading on my tablet four years ago vs the library that I’ve narrowed my book selections to recommended reading. I’m looking forward to the challenges and stretching my reading muscles back out.I used to frequent the library weekly and would grab whatever book caught my interest and my reading was more eclectic.
Welcome to the group, Nan! I am sure our challenges will help you read a greater variety of books.
Hey everyone! My name is Inkeri and I live in Finland. I enjoy reading almost any genre but I will most likely choose a book with some historical fiction or mystery and cime.I work as a radiographer in a children's hospital and I love it. I changed careers a couple of years ago and I couldn't be happier about that decision. In my spare time I obvioulsy read but I also like playing simulation or stragedy based computer games. I've also just recently gotten back into knitting and I've almost managed to finish one woollen sock in a two weeks time. Knitting is best while listening to audiobooks by the way.
I have a husband, a dog (labrador retriever) and a cat.
I'm looking forward to trying one or two of the challenges although I might not do too good in them. I love to get into a challenge but I find it that I usually never complete any of them, but that's just fine for me. I find that the best thing about challenges is that I always find something new to read which I normally might not even have thought of reading. It's not about winning, it's about reading.
Hi, Inkeri. Welcome to our group. I like knitting too but have never tried to knit a sock.
It's always good to be in a career you enjoy. I am retired now but was a teacher for 19 years, after being a stay at home mom.
I have two daughters, each with one child, and being a grandmother is a lot of fun.
You can use any books you have already read in 2020 for our challenges, or you can start from when you joined-your choice.
Happy reading and good luck on your challenges.
