Hi, Charlotte. Welcome to our group. If you have any questions about our group and goodreads in general, don't hesitate to ask.
Hello! My name is Jade and I am from Singapore.
I read mostly fiction and I enjoy modern thrillers, suspense/mystery and contemporary. I recently dipped my toe into YA and fantasy and I am loving them so far.
I look forward to being part of this group and making some new friends :)
Hey there, my name is Svenja and I am from Germany. I love a variety of books but I think, my biggest love are kids stories and young adult novels. My good resolution for 2019 is, to read some classics and other books, that were suggested to me time and time again. I hope, this group is motivating for this reading adventure!
Hello, Svenja. Welcome to our group. We have lots of fun challenges to help you expand your reading horizon.
I have been in holiday in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic but we are flying back home to Toronto tomorrow. Today we are in Berlin. It is a very big city!

Hey Rosemary. Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope, you had a lot of fun in Berlin. Did you walk through the "Tiergarten"? It's very beautiful in autumn time!
I didn't get a chance to do that, but we saw lots of other places. Today was nice and warm, but yesterday was really cold.

Good Morning from a very wet and windy day, here in the Lake District, Cumbria!!I'm Julie and I'm an avid reader of just about anything [apart from fantasy and sci-fi]. I've recently started to come out of my comfort zone by reading a lot more non-fiction which I'm really enjoying! Hoping to join in with a few challenges once the festive season is out of the way.
Hi, Julie. Welcome to the group. I live in Toronto and we have a dusting of snow on the ground to brighten things up.
Our new challenges start in January so you joined at a good time. Feel free to join any of the ongoing challenges too. You can use books you read in the time frame of the specific challenge.
Happy reading.

Hi all,I'm Steve from East Yorkshire.
I'm new to e-books and Goodreads although not to reading. I usually read historical fiction, generally about Roman Britain or the Danes in Britain.
I've been thinking about giving audio books a try too, Amazon do them for £7.99 pm, any thoughts?
I've never done any reading challenges before so looking forward to this, are the rules/instructions sent out for virgins?
Thanks.
Welcome to our group, Steve. Our new challenges will be starting in January, just a couple of weeks from now.
Each challenge has its own rules and we try to keep them simple.
We are also glad to answer any specific questions you may have about any of the challenges or how goodreads works.
Glad you joined us!

Hi there! My name is Eileen and this is the first group I've ever joined. I just finished the reading challenge for 2018 and discovered this group! I'm looking forward to getting inspiration from you all! For years, my favorite genres were mystery, sci-fi, and fantasy and I didn't like non-fiction much at all. But 2018 was the year I discovered a variety of genres including some amazing memoirs/biographies and historical/cultural books. For those of you who know, how do I change my reading goal? I accidentally submitted 52 books, but I really wanted 60 books as my goal. Thanks!
Hi, Eileen. Welcome to our group.
We have lots of fun challenges that will help you read a variety of books.
To change your Reading Challenge goal, go to your reading challenge and click on edit. Then you can change the number to your desired goal.
Glad you joined us!

Oh thanks for the tip! I'll go to the challenge and see if I can find the edit button! I noticed you guys have genre challenges and such, so that will be fun to look through for inspiration. Although, in truth, I already have 60 books on my list that I would love to tackle in 2019, lol! But I'm open for suggestions!
Hello my name is Gabby :) I'm from London uk and my favourite book is 100 years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez!
Welcome to our group, Gabby. Please feel free to join any of our fun challenges. You can join them any time during the year, whenever you like.

Hey Natalie, it seems we are neighbors 😉
Hi my name is Nancy I read nearly every genre. This year my goal is to read 75 books and I hope to read 20 classics. Some will be re-reads. I really enjoy historical fiction, contemporary fiction, ya, and fantasy.
Audio books have changed my life but mostly saved my sanity from the 24 hour news cycle. I now find I rather read or listen to a book than watch TV.
Anyway. I am looking forward to my 2019 reading.
Hi! I'm Margaret and I live in Connecticut (USA). Piles and mounds of unruly books have escaped my bookshelves and need to be tamed. My overall goal is to read at least two that are already in my house for every new book I bring in whether by buying, borrowing or accepting as a gift. Cheers!
Hi, Margaret. Welcome to the group. I totally relate with your experience. My goal this year is to be able to see all the books on my bookshelf.
A big welcome to all our new members. Please feel free to join any of our challenges and to set up your own personal challenge thread to help you keep track of your reading and challenges.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Hi my nickname is Mary. I live in the United Kingdom and i love books. My life got busy and i didn't have time for reading or anything that made me happy until last year Summer - August 2018 i came back to reading and i read 31 books in 5 months August 2018 till end of December 2018.This year I'm hoping to read a range of different genres and not stick to big fat books but read thin small books too and even some poetry. My target is to read 100 books and everyone around me know that's less for me. Maybe i can read more, who knows? Lol I'm a full time student studying science. I barely get free time but when i do i try to catch up on sleep or watch movies and shows or even read. I make time for reading nowadays by even reading on public transport.
I have my own shelves of many books i have bought and some i haven't read.
Welcome to our group, Mary. Many many years ago I was a student, so I know how little time there is to read at times. All the assignments seem to be due at the same time, don't they.
Hi, I am Deb. When I was a kid, I lived less than a mile away from our public library. It was only 4 blocks away, but at 7 years of age it was quite a distance. I used to walk there every Saturday and check out 3 or 4 books. I walked past my school, turned the corner at the park and then again at the grocery store and then walked straight until I came to the library. It was a large 2 story building with a basement. You had to walk up a lot of stairs and between two columns to get into the building. It was beautiful and magical. After exploring for hours, I returned home where I then spent Sunday in bed reading all day so that I could return the books and get more the following Saturday. Sometimes, I had the means and I could splurge 10¢ on a plastic book bag that got ripped up as it dragged along the sidewalk behind me on the way home. That always disappointed me, but it did not stop me from buying another one the next time I had a dime to spare. I loved, absolutely loved when they had bookmarks for us. I realize now, they were probably a high school art class project, but receiving a 1 inch by 6 inch piece of construction paper with an owl on it telling me "Owl hold your place for you" or just a shelf of books saying simply "Get Lost in a Book" was probably the best. I entered into the Summer Reading Club and won every year, usually just getting my name on the wall or maybe a free ice cream cone. But I read. Then highschool and boys happened and the reading slowed down a bit. Who am I kidding, it slowed down a lot. In college I was honored to be chosen to be an initial participant in a program that was going to be geared like Saint John's College in Annapolis, MD. I could not keep up with the reading. (Saint John's reading list is here: https://www.sjc.edu/academic-programs...). Today, I stand before you having read maybe 10 books last year. My Aunt introduced me to this challenge in 2016 and while I have printed out the lists and kept track of what I read I have not finished one yet. I am hoping to break that with 2019 and maybe, just maybe, I will tackle the list from Saint John's College.
Hi, Deb. That is a wonderful story about the library. I lived in a small town and the library was the size of two big living rooms but it had enough books to keep me happy.
Welcome to our group. I hope that our fun challenges can get you reading again. They are very addictive.

Hi everyone! I’m Sarah in Oklahoma. I’m in my mid-thirties, married with two wonderful stepdaughters, and dog mom to 4 dogs. When I’m not reading in my free time, I love to travel, watch movies and craft. I love reading challenges - they help me step out of my comfort zone of genres!
Hi. I’m Steve M from Columbus OH. I’m looking forward to reading more in 2019. I read a lot of nonfiction, mostly science related themes, but I’d like to read a little more widely in the coming year. Most recently, I’ve read Yuval Noah Harari’s Sapiens and Michael Pollan’s How to Change Your Mind, both great books. I joined Goodreads a couple of months ago.
Hi my name is Michele I read a variety of genre, there are only a couple that are just not my taste. I have a weird system for deciding what my next book to read will be so I very rarely know what my next book will be until I pick it. (If I could only speed read). Last year I didn't get as much time to read as I would have liked and hope it will be better this year. I've also been rereading books in order to leave a proper review for them. I have my favorites but the list it much to long to mention. Hopefully I'll be able to share books and authors I've enjoyed with everyone here.
Hi, Michele. Welcome to our group. I hope you have fun reading and sharing your book reviews with us. Our fun and addictive challenges will probably help you reach your goal.
And I agree with you- my list of favourite books is very long too.
