Cherie, hi! I'm from the US too so dont worry lol! There will be plenty of fun challenges as the year goes on, as well as the year longs, this months challenges and our monthly themes! Feel free to jump in wherever!

The group is registered as being founded in the UK because the person who started it had the declare a place. However, there are people here from all over the world. We're a wonderful variety here!

Hey Lucas, I grew up in Manchester and my parents still live there!

Hi, John. Welcome to the group. I am rediscovering science fiction but I like to read almost anything except horror and graphic mysteries. Good luck on your challenge.

Thanks for the clarification on the groups origin! That makes so much more sense haha

I'm determined (I use that word loosely) to read all the books I've always wanted to read and the ones I think I should read to be a well-read or well-educated person.
My main interests are the Great Books, economics, politics, biographies, Black History/Harlem Renaissance, Jewish History/Middle East, and a little philosophy.
I'm looking forward to (possibly) having a discussion with people here, but just sharing challenges will serve me well.
Iron sharpens iron, so I'm glad to join this community of readers.

Hi, Tura. Welcome. The challenges in this group will help you reach your amazing goal. Happy reading.
You're welcome Carlos! Hello Tura! That is a very high goal, but I have no doubt you'll acheive it! We have quite a variety of challenges, all quite fun!

I like to read almost everything. If it keeps me reading then it is a good book.
Good for you, Andrea! I gave up cable tv and Internet in my home a few years ago. It is one of the choices that has helped increase my time for reading. (And other things)

I am really sad in that I will read just about anything and am in no way a book snob... although my current love is fantasy/sci fi and probably my favorite although my greast reads don't reflect that as have been read since well ever..
I weirdly don't want write to my own books I just love being part of a great adventure /love story etc and to be in the mind of author and escape into the heart of the characters for the time it takes to read from end to end.
Favorites:
Animal Farm - Still effects everytime I read it
Pride and Prejudice - I love the individuality and flaws of the characters
A Brave New World - Makes me think
All Ilona Andrews books - She is just a great author
Farseer Trilogies - Love flawed characters
Vicious - A great love story
I literally could go on and on but I will stop.. hmm me thinks I could be too excited.. but hey what is life for.. if not that.. looking forward to challenge..
Hi, Astrid. Welcome to the group. I like reading a lot as well, almost everything, except horror. I learned about a lot of good books since I joined goodreads about a year or so ago.

World War Z can be found in the young adult section of pretty much any book store. (I believe Young Adult at least)
That depends on if it is a paperback or not. You can probably get it at the school library, Ash. The librarian could help you and it is free.

I'm from Sydney, Australia (we moved here around two years ago).
I have been reading since I was basically a toddler and it has become one of my passions now.
My favourite genres are classics, YA, mystery, thriller, fantasy, biographies, basically anything of my interests.
(I am not really a big fan of the word 'favourite genres' as I feel like it makes you limit yourself from other amazing genres and it is always okay to widen your perspective on books and explore deeper into different genres. That is the beauty of reading.
I joined Goodreads about three months ago, in the hope of interacting with new people as well as opening myself into a wide range of new books.
My challenge for this year is to read 40 books :)
Hi Sean and Jilia. Welcome to the group. I joined this group last September and have become hooked on the challenges- which has really expanded my range of reading. And it's fun.
Welcome Jilia and Sean! We have lots of challenges to help meet goals, and lots of places to discuss books, or even just relax and chat a bit! Have gun here with us!

My favorite saga is Harry Potter, but lately I'm in love with Anna Carey's books.
I'm attending a summer marathon (it's summer in Brazil, by the way) and until the 21st I plan to read five more books counting on what I'm reading: two boys kissing, six impossible things, invisible, links and azeitona(a Brazilian book) And I've read three.
I do not have a preferred gender and I dream of publishing a book one day.
I found this group fantastic and I'm excited to participate in all the challenges
Kisses

I'm Mukesh and i'm from Kathmandu, Nepal.i haven't been reading from few months but i think this is the year where i can change that.so basically one of my resolution for this year is to read at least 50 books. Numbers are looking good for now. lest's hope i can stick to the plan. Reading books is always been therapeutic for me and i always liked to read in various genre.
This is the first time for me to this kind of group and it's pleasure
to be around so many bookish people.its going to be hard for me to pick few favorite boos of all time. so, i am only writing my favorite books from last year.
Brave new world
Siddhartha
waiting for snow in Havana
The thousand splendid suns
The god delusion
I'm currently reading Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and Fellowship of the rings.
Hi, Mukesh. Welcome to the group. I have read Lord of the Rings at least three times. I hope you are enjoying it.
