Personally, the longer the book and the more books per series the better.

3)I'd say I normally read in the 300-600 range. If I veer out of that range it's usually higher. I'm left unsatisfied with shorter books; always thinking to myself it could have used at least one more chapter.

I absolutely loved this book and I think it's going to be in my too books for the year! It's a cool combo of a thriller combined with a bunch of facts and true account stories.

I guess so. This year I've been rereading The Princess Diaries series so my average page count is lower than usual but longer books aren't really a deterrent for me.

message 61: by Stacey (new)

Stacey D. | 1908 comments This week's pick is Berta Isla by Javier Marías. In the past few years, he's become one of my favorite authors. Even though their styles and settings are wildly divergent, Marías' thoughtful, plodding way of telling a story reminds me a lot of Murakami. Both authors always feature strong female characters, which I love and the title character in this one, Marías' latest, is no different. I also love reading about Madrid, so I really get into JM's novels. Typically books of 300+ pages are my forté and this one clocks in at 497 pages.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

2. How many pages is it?

3. Do you normally read books that are this length?
I would say the majority of books I pick up are somewhere between 300-400 pages, but page count doesn't tend to influence my reading preferences too much. I've read quite a few books over 400 pages as well as many that were under 300.

5 stars. Probably my favorite book of the year so far. I've seen the film a long time ago so now I'm itching to rewatch it.
