This week's pick is Berta Isla by Javier Marías. In the past few years, he's become one of my favorite authors. Even though their styles and settings are wildly divergent, Marías' thoughtful, plodding way of telling a story reminds me a lot of Murakami. Both authors always feature strong female characters, which I love and the title character in this one, Marías' latest, is no different. I also love reading about Madrid, so I really get into JM's novels. Typically books of 300+ pages are my forté and this one clocks in at 497 pages.
