No go. When I got on actual website allocation was exhausted. I'm surprised how unprepared Ticketek was for a bot attack.

Yup. Marty's older brother is flying in to Wllgtn at 3.30pm on Sat from overseas - since of course his minions would have organised the whole thing! *rolleyes* His sil has connections & may be able to help, but otherwise can totally imagine *** dealing with scalpers.

We could be on the same flight.
Hubby says,"No, mucking about in Wellington and we won't be stopping at Otaki shopping outlets ... Straight to the inlaws in Levin to book our seats in front of the TV."
Of course I'll be the only Highlanders supporter in that household on Saturday evening!

Wow! Just read pdr's blog on SOME NZ writings ( she quotes from an American publishing site- correct me if I'm wrong). A really clear cut piece and worth a look.

And thank you, Sandy! I think!!"
Hi P.D.R. Just read a post you wrote about the power of the group. Well said. I've teamed up with another author for the NZ Independent Book Fair later this year. The sharing of costs & the double head space for ideas has been a life saver. She's also my 'go to' person for book queries, given that her book was published a year before mine!
Having someone to turn to for advice is so helpful. I'm also grateful to all the people on here who I'm starting to interact with. Love how generous other authors can be with their time (especially when we should all be writing & not procrastinating online!)

Last year I caught up with Kathleen from this group and hope to do the same this year. It was fun and she was a great help. (You're a gem, a pearl past price, Kathleen.) Flights booked, just got to find the nearest place to the venue to stay. Trying to get around Auckland with a case load of books is no fun!

I live just north of Upper Hutt city, but had to go to Wellington Hospital since they have an ENT unit and Hutt Hospital don't. Was a bit of a mission getting there by train & taxi after I'd dropped my little dog off at her holiday home. Took the same method home so was a bit exhausted by the time I arrived, then had to get the car out and go up to collect dog from her accommodation. Trying to read, but each time I pick the book up, the girl who has taken up residence on my knee, carefully drapes her leg over the page!!
I hope everyone had a good weekend. It was hot weather for us [Vancouver] however it was spent inside due to smog from the 180 forest fires - alas it was spent reading in a house that smelled like a campfire.
Kathleen - on occasion, but never this bad. Our sky yesterday looked like something out of a dystopian novel.

On the plus side, the copies of my book I'd ordered from the publisher were waiting to be picked up from shipping depot. I have them all now, ready for book launch & the Independent Book Fair in October! Very tempted to take a photo of them all on the lounge floor and recreate the 'Scrooge McDuck' image of me in the middle of them ;)

Melissa how are those forest fires in BC? No wonder you have smog in Vancouver. My lot are in Saskatchewan and they are having forest fires too. It's been dry all spring hasn't it? Daughter tells me they had to evacuate Laronge and get the army in. 13,000 people out of their homes!!!

They are getting worse by the day. It has just been too dry and we are running out of firefighters [we have even asked Australia for help]. Hope your lot in Saskatchewan are alright, they have it quite bad too - I heard they even got Canadian forces in to help.

Your fires were on NZ TV news last night. Looks horrific Melissa and such a beautiful countryside...very sad especially if purposefully started as suggested in broadcast.

You know what, it amazes me that some people can be so reckless in such dry conditions. That being said, I know some were naturally or unintentionally started. We are grateful for the Australians and Kiwis coming in to help.

So where are you now, SK?
& I've won a book on First Reads! I was having all sorts of trouble with email on my phone & that was one of the ones that didn't get through.
It's The Antipodeans by NZ writer, Greg McGee. I saw him speak at the Writers festival.

He also wrote a couple of mystery/crime novels as Alix Bosco and won the Ngaio Marsh award for one of them I seem to recall.
GR should put up a site wide announcement but they won't.
There is a bug & some groups have disappeared, leaving moderators no way to contact members.
So, if a group you frequent has disappeared, don't think the group creator has run mad & deleted your group without warning!

OK, I'm back to spreading light & joy where ever I go! :)
Just booked tickets to see Rams at the Auckland film festival. It's an afternoon session, so if anyone else going, let me know!

Made it to Wanaka and the ski field today. Beautiful weather so off to the Goldfield's museum tomorrow and have booked a horse trek for next week. Grandchildren give a poetry recital at 6p.m. I limited them to 6 poems each as these concerts have a tendency to go on and on. At bath time read them a short censored selection from 'Essential New Zealand Poems: Facing the Empty Page'.7 yr old asks,"But Granny do you like these poems as they don't make sense and they don't rhyme?" Thinking we may stick with Nursey Rhymes and seek out a poetry book for children at Wanak Waste Busters.
Didn't get to the Te Papa exhibition on Gallipoli, day was freezing.
