Darkpool | 1032 comments Gah! why can't they take their spat to the porn sites, and leave the good stuff alone?

Never!

Joanne Armstrong (joarmstrong) | 10 comments The LIANZA lists are out today and a librarian friend has called me to tell me my book has made it onto the "long list" :-) And since all the other books are backed by big publishing houses (Walker, Penguin, Scholastic) I am really thrilled to represent the self published by being the only Indie on the list. Yay! Unworthy by Joanne Armstrong

That sounds like very good news! Congratulations!

I haven't heard that. GR seems generally buggy at the moment.

Did you have good weather for it?"

We did! Even though it was raining on the Coromandel West Coast the other side was hot all day & sunny for most of it. If I go again (unlikely) & I'm not a petrol head like the rest of the group I was with, I would probably just go sit in the pub & watch the cars drive by!

& if you are looking at the magazine racks this month the gorgeous young cover girl on autumn's Oh Baby magazine is my great niece. Her baby brother is pictured inside as well!

Lesley | 1595 comments The Google doodle today commemorates the 122nd birthday of Dame Ngaio Marsh. Go to Google and check it out. Click on the doodle then at the page you're taken to click the doodle again to animate it.

Yesterday the doodle was for Earth Day and had a quiz attached when you clicked on the doodle. You answered 5 or so multi-choice questions about yourself and they told you what animal, bird, fish, insect... you were. Anyone else do it? I was a Woolly Mammoth and a colleague at work was a Dodo!

The day before the doodle was commemorating Loch Ness monster and that had a clever animation with it too. April is a great month - so much to commemorate besides my birth, but no doodle for that!!:):)

Have to put more stuff together too.

No time to do more than say I'm still here and will be back.

If you're out there Sweetp I've been wondering if you've arrived and how you're settling into your new environment.

Grand daughter commented from back seat whilst I drove the Crown Range. " Australia is hot and fast. New Zealand is cold and slow."

message 133: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) That's a great summary, how old is your grand daughter S.K?

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Darling Ace.
Lily Jade now 6 yrs. Moved from Sydney to Wanaka. Just had another power cut in Turkey. Hope this gets through to you.

message 135: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) Ok, well that IS a slow place and I suspected Sydney (does it seem that traffic is faster and the lanes are narrower than everywhere else in the world to you?)

My husband is born and bred Timaru, we will be there in October. 2 years ago he took me on a tour of South Island in his Classic 1975 BMW csi. I loved it.

message 136: by [deleted user] (new)

Love NZ. Have been an expat for most of my life but there's no place like my darling island.

message 137: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) I've been to many places S.K. and I agree that it's one of the most spectacular countries. This year we fly to Auckland and tiki-tour around through to Wellington, then fly down to Christchurch. Looking forward to it (especially Paihia and Taupo).

I hope Lily likes it as much as I do...

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

So much to see in the South Island depending on the season you visit. Lots of contacts for you to make. Presently I live in Turkey so far from home. Hope you love my country and the people.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments My father was a Taranaki man but I much prefer living in Otago.

Bad neighbour's place has been for sale for 7 years!!!
He's going round all the people in our area demanding that they be witnesses to me being 'mad, bad and dangerous to know.'

One day, I would love to see NZ. Alas, I have never been outside of North America ... and I am terrified of flying lol.

Just have to skite. I got a huge haul of books from my op shop yesterday. The one I'm most excited about is Penguin History Of New Zealand 1/e,The by Michael King by Michael King, but I think I got about 14 books all up!
