Maddy inhaled the morning LA air. It felt good to be outside. She had been locked up in her bedroom all summer long ever since she got caught throwing a party when her parents were gone.
Maddy shoved that thought out of her mind. Today was the first day of school. She was not going to let her terrible summer ruin it for her.

[Ashley]

Taylor had just stepped out of Starbucks. Since she was the newest member of Maddy's Clique, she was on coffee run. She orders 4 Decaf Caramel Frappucinos. Maddy's favorite, of course. Taylor and the rest of the group always drank Maddy's favorite coffee. It was just another way to prove that they were all best friends, so said Brooke when she first met Taylor. After about a half mile of walking, she had reached her destination. Jackson High. The warm LA sun was boring a hole into her back, but she didn't care. It felt good.

[Ashley]

Brooke and Claire had arrived at school at the exact same time. "Brookie! I've missed you so much." Claire said as she dropped her backpack on the cement, and ran over to give Brooke a big hug. "Oh my gosh, I know. What's up with that? We needed to hang out more." Brooke replied as Claire finally let go. She went over to get her backpack, and Claire and Brooke walked over towards their normal meet up spot. The bench right by the door. It gave them a good chance to make fun of everyone's back-to-school outfit choices. When they got there, Maddy and Taylor were already sipping their Starbucks, chatting it up like bffs. Claire felt a pang of jealousy deep in her stomach. She was supposed to be bffs with Maddy. Not the newbie Taylor.
"I guess I just gotta step up my game." thought Claire as they arrived at the bench.

[Ashley]

"Ok girls. It's good seeing you, I've missed you, blah blah blah.. But let's get down to business. I had the gerr-ratest idea ever. Is everyone free this weekend? Nevermind that, you'll want to cancel your plans. This weekend we are meeting at my house, Friday night, 8:00 sharp. We are going to be starting our own beauty line. I got this awesome new kit flown in all the way from Milan. That includes make up, lotion, etc.."
But before Maddy could finish telling her best friends about her beyond brilliant idea, the bell rang signaling first period.
"Everyone text me after school. I already checked, we have no classes together, except lunch, which will be when I'm leaving. Don't miss me too much guys. See you tomorrow."
Maddy said with a wink. At with that, she was off before any of her so called friends could say anything.
