I read this several years ago. A real tear-jerker!

Samantha (pohleeee) | 3 comments Just read this to my class this year and I enjoyed it. They’re coming out with another One and Only soon. Can’t wait!

Critter (bookishcritter) | 20 comments I also read this one not too long ago. It was a deeply emotional read for me. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I’m also looking forward to the One and Only Bob.

Rachel | 4 comments I love this book and have had my students read it for the last two years. It is always one of their favorites.

I'll pass on this one, but I am hoping to catch up with Coraline in the new year!! (I'm a bit behind, as you can tell).

I've given up on Coraline. I just really don't care for creepy.

Ivan's too heartbreaking for a re-read. But maybe I can find something in the juvvy section to read this month!

I just finished it and really enjoyed it. I was dreading how sad I'd heard it was, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. I thought Ivan's journey from denial of the truth and complacency to admitting it and feeling real feelings was great!

Glad I am not the only one who finds Coraline too creepy.

Oh, I was given it as a thank you gift from someone who loves it. I hope I don't find it too creepy.

Leone Anderson (lcanderson) | 63 comments Because The One and Only Ivan is based on a real gorilla, I found this was a fascinating way of telling this story through words of Ivan, for you identify with, and feel yourself growing with, the humanity of Ivan as the story progresses.

Louie I read this for the first time and while I think that it's very good, I was surprised by just how sad it was!

Kammera | 30 comments read this to my classes. We all loved it. We did a follow up with the real story in class. Great way to incorporate nonfiction with fiction.
The new book, The one and only Bob isn't as good.
