Opening scene was an accident outside main character’s office involving a truck and horse trailer and a white horse. This causes a flashback for MC. When he was younger he was sent to a camp for troubled youth. I’m kinda confident I read an actual book and not an e-book. Read it within the last ten years and fairly certain that at the time it was a ‘newly printed’ book aka not an older print book. Opening and closing of the book are set in modern time but the storyline is maybe set in the 1960's. MC is a young boy and at the risk camp was all boys. Some with eh crimes and others with atrocious crimes. The name Ken is popping in my head but... they had to care for the horses and train them. There was one horse, a white horse, that became significant. The name Mickey also rings a bell for another one of the boys at the camp. Murder, abuse, neglect, and so much more happened to those boys by other boys and by the officers in charge. A group either escaped or were sent out for a overnight(s) where things went downhill quickly and I'm fairly certain at least one boy was murdered along with a white horse. **And although I am convinced it was a white horse both in the beginning and at the camp, I could be wrong.**
It is not Bless the Beasts and the Children or Boot Camp. Although the lengthy summary I read about Boot Camp was very close to the book I'm thinking of.
