Hello, I've been trying to find these books for the longest time, I believe I read them I. The early 2000's but not super sure of the exact year. It's a trilogy I believe and the protagonist is a young man who is from a healer family in the north, and one night his home is attacked sold into slavery and ends up a gladiator. The beginning of the first book starts with him and his cousin in a school, which he gets kicked out of for sneaking out at night and leaving the gate opened for demons to get in. The he heads home with his father and spends time at home and in a magic cave with his sister. There is also a storyline about a young lady who later becomes his love interest, but first she marries an immortal emporer who has made a deal with the demons. The main protagonist has become a famous gladiator by using his healing abilities to cut the life from people and is hired to be the ladies body guard, as war breaks out , he leads her and the empoemporerrer through the underworld. There is more, but I can't remember exact details of the rest.
