Oops, October got away from us pretty quickly. Quick, nominate books for November so we can get started on those on time.

– Nominations will be open for 24-48 hours and during that time we will take in as many nominations as possible.
– After 24-48 hours, 8 books from each genre will be chosen at random from the selection, using a random generator online.
– Only ONE nomination per person (EITHER sci-fi OR fantasy).
– No books nominated last month may be re-nominated for this month; instead you must wait until next month to nominate them again. A book counts as “nominated” when it makes it to the polls. If it was suggested, but not picked for the polls, it can be entered again.
– If books are part of a series, they must be the first, unless the group has already read the previous book(s). (you can see our previous group reads here)
– No authors nominating their own works.
– No self-published or ebook-only books — we want our BotM to be accessible to as many members as possible!
– Book nominations may be seconded in place of a suggestion, but this will count as your choice for the month. Seconded books will receive an additional chance of being selected in the randomisation process.

This is the second of a series we have not started. Is it a standalone, or would you like to start with the first book?

Oops, sorry. The title confused me. The correct one should be The Last by Katherine Applegate

Freya (flamecat) | 1835 comments Mod
Syreeta, you can only nominate one book, either sci-fi or fantasy, and those have both been nominated. You are allowed to second one book that's been nominated instead of nominating one yourself.

Once this thread closes and the polls go up you will be able to vote on the books you want to read.

Yup, it was a challenge read - as long as it's not tagged as 'group-read' we should be good!

I'd like to nominate The Last Namsara for fantasy.

Rinn (rinnsohma) | 3456 comments Mod
Is it best to read all of the His Dark Materials series before La Belle Sauvage? If so, it might be best to leave that one out of nominations/nominate HDM instead.

message 46: by Freya, Dragon Rider (new)

Freya (flamecat) | 1835 comments Mod
La Belle Sauvage is probably fine in that it is a prequel to HDM trilogy... but the one just out (Book of Dust) is apparently more like a sequel to HDM, even though it is the second book after La Belle Sauvage...

so maybe??

Laura | 73 comments I’ll second The Tiger’s Daughter :)
