Lanelle Library wrote: "Hey! Where do you wanna start?"

That's a tough question. There are so many choices!

I suggest that we each pick two or three tasks and when we've reviewed the books, come back and do it again. What do you think?

Library Queen | 320 comments Sounds good to me. :) Do you wanna pick first?

message 8: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle Library wrote: "Sounds good to me. :) Do you wanna pick first?"

Ah, I was hoping you'd go first. That'd be fewer choices for me :)

Okay, I'll take #55 (something musical on the cover) and #21 (mostly green cover). I'm going to read The Nomad Harp (Signet Regency Romance) by Laura Matthews and Frogkisser! by Garth Nix .

message 9: by Library (last edited Oct 22, 2019 03:43PM) (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments I was trying to be nice! :) :P

I'll take #3 )contemporary novel and 14) A book with a person not showing their face on the cover.

The Brontë Plot by Katherine Reay and Spider-Gwen Ghost-Spider, Vol. 1 Spider-Geddon by Seanan McGuire because her face is covered with a mask.

message 10: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay do you think this would work for 26) A book with a road (dirt or paved) on the cover?

Absolutely.

Library Queen | 320 comments Ok, great. Then that's my next one. Hey, do you wanna be partners for the next challenge, or just see who we get?

Lanelle Library wrote: "Ok, great. Then that's my next one. Hey, do you wanna be partners for the next challenge, or just see who we get?"

I was wondering about asking to be on the same team. Do you want to make the request?

message 14: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments Sure, I can do it. :)

message 15: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments Alright, I asked. :) Hopefully we can be.

message 16: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments Ok, I'm reading N or M? (Tommy and Tuppence, #3) by Agatha Christie now, and it could work for a few of them.
31) A book without the words “A,” “AN,” or “THE” in the title or 51) A book set during a war or 52) A book set outside the USA. What do you think would be best?

message 17: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle I think a book set during a war might be the most difficult slot to fill. It's up to you though.

I feel like a bum. How many books have you finished? I haven't even completed my first.

message 18: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments 3, but one was a graphic novel, so that was shorter. This is supposed to be a easy going challenge though, so it's ok. In a week with the other challenge it will matter more, since it's competitive. How's your book going?

If it doesn't matter o you I'm going to do 31, because I do read a lot of WWII books, so the other slots could be done by me, I just didn't wanna pick something you wanted to use.

I'm not liking it too much, which is probably why I haven't finished it :)

There aren't any tasks that I have my heart set on. Feel free to take any you want.

message 20: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments You could always quit it and do a different one? You're normally pretty quick.

message 21: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle Library wrote: "You could always quit it and do a different one? You're normally pretty quick."

You know, I think I will quit. I'm 47% in to the story and I just can't make myself care.

If you come across the green cover, go for it. I'm going to start a book for 49) A book that is part of a series with 4+ books.

Sooooooo true!! I was the same way. Now I'm like "there are too many good books to continue reading a bad one". Lol

Lanelle That no re-read rule is really going to help clear out my TBR shelf!

I just reported my first book. I started the musical instrument cover this morning. I have a feeling that book might a bit slow as well.

I'm going to snag 39) A book with a profession in the title. I'm going to read The Plastic Magician. It says in the blurb that the main character is apprenticed to become a magician.

message 30: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments Ok, I'm going to do 22) A book with a mode of transportation on the cover because I have this Someday We Will Fly. There's planes on the cover.

Hey, it's fine if it is slow, you gotta be fast next week! haha

message 31: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle Library wrote: "Hey, it's fine if it is slow, you gotta be fast next week!"

That's a good way to look at it. I have to rest up now to be ready for the challenge to start! I've had fun making up a list of books.

message 32: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments This challenge should be easier than the last one, too. I'm excited. :)

message 33: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments Hey, I'm gonna be reading a really big book,, so it's gonna look like I'm not reading much, but I am! I just wanna try to get as much of this book done by this next weekend when I have to be speedier. :)

message 34: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle Library wrote: "Hey, I'm gonna be reading a really big book,, so it's gonna look like I'm not reading much, but I am! I just wanna try to get as much of this book done by this next weekend when I have to be speedier :)"

Good luck.

message 35: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle I'm going to read The Tale of Oat Cake Crag (The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter, #7) by Susan Wittig Albert , which fits 20) A book with a mostly blue cover.

message 36: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle I finished The Tale of Oat Cake Crag (The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter, #7) by Susan Wittig Albert .

I'm going to take 29) A book with a hat on the cover for The Ghost and Mrs. McClure (Haunted Bookshop Mystery, #1) by Alice Kimberly next.

message 37: by Library (last edited Oct 31, 2019 06:32PM) (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments OK. I think for my next one I'm doing 11) A book with a man and woman on the cover Kissing Christmas Goodbye (Agatha Raisin, #18) by M.C. Beaton . There's a little man and woman on it.

I'm officially taking a break from the giant book, it was just too much to blast through.

message 38: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle *sigh* I keep forgetting about the no re-read rule. I've already read The Ghost and Mrs. McClure (Haunted Bookshop Mystery, #1) by Alice Kimberly . I'm putting 'hat on the cover' back in the line-up.

message 39: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments I actually ended up using 50) A book with 5+ vowels in the title because it worked better.

message 40: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle I'm going to take 58) A book with stars on the cover for a book I just finished - Winter Wish by Dixie Minor . I'm off to the reporting thread.

message 41: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments I'm going to do 19) A book with a mostly black cover. The Education of a Coroner Lessons in Investigating Death by John Bateson

message 42: by Lanelle (last edited Nov 02, 2019 05:48PM) (new)

Lanelle I just finished Crooked House by Agatha Christie . Wow, that was good! I've taken 53) A book with a police officer or soldier in its text.

message 43: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments I know! Did you figure out who it was? I didn't.

message 44: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle Library wrote: "I know! Did you figure out who it was? I didn't."

I probably had the typical guesses, but I was completely shocked at the end! Agatha Christie was so good at surprising her readers.

message 45: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments True. There has been very few of her books I've guessed the culprit.

message 46: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments I just finished Lady Jayne Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano which would work for 56) A debut novel. I posted it

message 47: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle I just finished Aunt Dimity and the Heart of Gold. The narrator did a great with all the British, New Zealand and American accents as well as the male and female voices.

I'm going to take 33) A book with a family relationship in the title (son, daughter, mother, etc) for it.

message 48: by Lanelle (last edited Nov 07, 2019 06:33PM) (new)

Lanelle Jada, do you think the lion on the cover of Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews would count for 23) a book with a dog or cat on the cover or in the title?

message 49: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments I mean, a lion is a big cat, so I would think yes.

message 50: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 320 comments The book I'm reading Cilka's Journey (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, #2) by Heather Morris will work for 37) A book with an apostrophe in the title.
