My very favorite rockstars. I'm in love with all of them. Even the self centered, arrogant and damaged lead singer Jimmy.
Great banter, great chemistry and absolutely wonderful easy humor in all the books in this series.

Review:It wasnt as good as the first two. For me, the series could have ended either at the end of the first book or the second. I didnt like the whole marrige thing. He cheats on her and then not an hour after they make-up he asks her to marry him? Conrad was okay in this book. I got really annoyed with Jere sometimes. We all new they weren't getting married... It was a little predictable. I really liked the end though.

#5 in a series

The Body Farm (Kay Scarpetta, #5) by Patricia Cornwell by Patricia Cornwell
Kay Scarpetta #5
Finished: 11 Dec 14
Rating: ★★★★

I am sure I have read this book several times, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it again. I like the Scarpetta series in small doses. This one is about a murder which occurred in North Carolina which appears to be the work of Scarpetta's early nemesis, Temple Gault. Kay's niece, Lucy gets involved and (as usual) Kay's life is threatened. Pete Marino was especially annoying in this book, but in general, I really enjoyed it.

Book: The Duke Diaries (Royal Entourage, #3) by Sophia Nash The Duke Diaries by Sophia Nash.
Date Read: 12/9/14
Rating: 4 Stars
Theme: Book 3 in Royal Entourage Series

Review:
This is a continuation of the Royal Entourage series and all of books in the series started at the same time the morning of Duke of Candover's wedding except the prince's entourage made up of all the dukes are not to be found because they all got drunk the night before and this series captures what happens the morning after. This story is about Rory, the Duke of Abshire who wakes up in Verity Fitzroy's bed who happens to be Duke Candover's sister. The best part about the book is that Verity does not simply say yes but Rory actually has to work for it and we can see how he slowly falls in love with Verity. Both of them have secrets and it is frustrating because we spend so much time in the build up, only to find that it really was not as big as it was being made out to be. In the end, Verity seems to not act smart and it was annoying to see a good heroine do that. The ending felt kind of rushed to me and these things kept me from giving it a 5 stars. But it is definitely a favorite of mine. I love this series so far.

Review:I really liked it and I didnt think I would. I dont know why but I was always reluctant to read it but now I'm glad that I did. There were so many things that just... shocked me I guess. For instance, they didnt see color, or dont have wind and sunshine and snow and all those little things that we love. When we find out what the release is, and that Jonas father did it to that baby and then wanted to do it to Gabe... man...
I cant wait to read the rest of the series.

Book: Shadow Dance (Buchanan-Renard, #6) by Julie Garwood Shadow Dance by Julie Garwood.
Date Read: 12/15/14
Rating: 3 Stars
Theme: Book 6 in Buchanan-Renard Series

Review:
I have been waiting for Noah Clayborne's book since the first book in the series when he was first introduced and I had high expectations for it, but after reading Shadow Dance I was really disappointed in the lack of romance in the book. Jordan Buchanan teased by Noah about her regimented life, impulsively decides to go to Texas to investigate an age old feud between the MacKennas and the Buchanans. The trip wasn't as cut and dry as Jordan hoped to be but rather found a dead body in the trunk of her car and herself as a prime suspect. Noah and Nick, her brother come to help her out of the mess, but the dead bodies keep turning up in her trunk. Now Noah and Jordan are trying to solve the mystery. This definitely had good suspense, but the romance was really lacking. One minute they think of each other as friends, there is a slight reference to when they were young and were attracted to each other but they did nothing and the next they are in love. There was no build up of their feelings, or why now are they falling for each other. For Noah being such a player and a revolving door on women, there isn't much as to why both of them fall for each other. It just felt love by proximity, and I would have really liked it more if the author spent more time in showing the romance happening between the two.

Teams will roll on Friday (12/19) two times for two spots. No roll on 12/26. Both book's deadline will be 1/2 and then the game resumes it's normal schedule.
If you feel you won't be able to manage either holiday's rolls that's ok. Just let your team know and you can skip those rolls without penalizing the team.

Veronica Mars, now 28-years old, is back at her hometown Neptune, California, and working as a PI in his fathers agency.
During a spring break two young party girls went missing and as this is bad for business in town, local Chamber of Commerce hires Veronica to find the girls.
I was expecting so much more. The story just didn't grab me and the mystery was weakish.

I have read both of them and loved them. In fact And the Mountains Echoed is now one of my favourite books of all time. I can't believe it has taken me this long to read The Kite Runner. It was absolutely brilliant. Khaled Hosseini has an ability to create character which is second to none. I think what I liked most about the book was just how flawed the narrator, Amir, was and how he found a way to overcome his own cowardice and selfishness. What an amazing book.

Read: 25/12/14
Rated: 3 stars
Review: I'm still waiting for a Maggie Stiefvater boom to amaze me. I didnt go into this book with high expectations and it was exactly like I thought it would be. There were some parts of the book when I was asking myself why, and what but there were some really cool moments too. Like at the end when Dee faced the Queen and stuff.
There was this moment in the book that looked really serious but was never addressed again. When she overhears Luke talking to someone about 'screwing' her and she left hurt but it was never again mentioned. Why?
I seriously believed that the aunt was going to help her but... I guess not.
Overall, it was exactly what I thought it would be but I still hoped it would be better.

Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward (BDB #5) by J.R.Ward
finished 29/12/14
3,5 stars

I don't know if I can blame the busy holiday season or am I in a serious reading slump but this BDB book just didn't do it for me. I didn't feel the connection between V and Jane like I felt with Z and Bella or Butch and Marissa. Jane was just cold and the ending was weird with the ghost business and all.
I enjoyed most the parts about V's childhood and it was very surprising to learn about his parents.
There was almost no action between Brothers and Lessers in this book. I know I'm in a big minority but I kind of missed those bastards with their twisted minds.
I do enjoy this series but what comes to similar series, I do prefer Lara Adrian's Midnight Breeds.

Petya | 234 comments Spot 62 - #2 in a series - The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Read: 29/12/14
Rated: 5stars
Review:Aaahh, I want a movie or series soooo baad. It was as good as the first one if not better. It was also a lot darker than the last one. Now Mara was trying to look ok but things were getting a lot worse. Daniel rocked again and I wanted Mara to tell him everything she and Noah were doing and... ahhh. Now Noah was a little annoying in this book. It looked like he was keeping secrets and I didnt like how he didnt trust Mara sometimes, well he trusted her at the end (wink, wink). I dont believe he is dead for one second. To have the only person who dies to have the abilitty to heal himself and then write that he is dead... yeah, I dont buy it.
I really didnt expect Jamie to have a power and it was really cool.
Phoebe was creeping me out. She was so weird and like "I fixed your eyes" and stuff. I immidiatly knew that Jude was her boyfriend. It was so obvious.
I didnt expect the doctor to be monitoring and watching what Mara and, I assume, the others did. When they saw the video tape of her in her house and what they were talking...
I'm really intrigued with the memory of her past self? Is it reincarnation? I dont know.
Overall, I really liked it and... one piece of advice... dont read it alone in the dark at two am...

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Read: 30.12.14
Rating: 4.5 stars (if only I could give that!)

This was actually a good 4.5 stars. It was a fantastic story and it really moved along. There is no doubt that it got tough to read at times and there were pages of dense internal and external monologues which got tiresome, but never once did I get bored with the story. The psychology and the internal contradictions of Raskolnikov were so interesting. I loved how he teetered on madness the whole way through the book and you were never quite sure what was real. I have a working knowledge of Russian, enough to know that although the translation was great, something is definitely lost in this book when you read it in the English. Possibly my greatest regret about my early University years was that I didn't stick at Russian as this is one book I think would be worth the trouble in the original. But it is definitely a book I'd go back to.

#2 of the Dr Gideon Fell series

Nodding to the tradition of Agatha Christie, this is the second in the Dr Gideon Fell series of mysteries. It was a good fun read, with a murder occurring and being solved in the space of a day by the rotund but sharp Dr Fell and his colleagues. I have never read any of this series before but I really enjoyed it. This one was written in 1933, but it was an easy read and, although it differs greatly from today's crime fiction, it kept me guessing.
