A Touch of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #0.5) by Lara Adrian 0.5 in series

Completed 1/26
3.5 stars rounded to 3

This short novella introduces us to The Midnight Breed series. I really liked Gideon and Savannah although I wished the author would have made her slightly older. She appeared to be older and wiser than her almost 18 years. Although this is a novella, it is fast paced and takes the reader to the world of the breed. This book comes well after the series, but since I haven’t read any of the other books, this is a nice start to Savannah and Gideon. Savannah has a gift of touching objects and immediately can see into the past. I am sure that she will use this gift in future books to help Gideon and others. The chemistry between the 300 + year old vamp and Savannah, a college student, was not as believable as I would have anticipated. However, it did not take long for her attraction and love for Gideon to surface like most novellas. I will definitely continue with the series.

Holds a special place in my heart. But I didn't read this novella until about 9 mos. ago to start the re-read. It was nice to know their story.

And One Last Thing ... by Molly Harper
Book:
And One Last Thing ... (Standalone)
Read: 1/28
Rating & Review: ★★★½
This is one wasn't as funny since subject matter of infidelity and the aftermath is a heavy topic. It was well written and amusing in parts, but not the hold my belly hilarious that I was expecting. The main thing was the wife was able to find her identity and reclaim her life after the betrayal.

Cry No More by Linda Howard
1/28/15 4.5★

Review:I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I seem to have developed a slight prejudice against Linda Howard and I'm not sure why. But I loved it. It was heartwrenching without being overly emotional. In fact the dry almost matter of fact tone helped with the subject matter. I loved Milla and her growth and how that growth was depicted. It felt so real, but in a good way. I was completely sucked into the story and was sad to see it end.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments OK sorry it took so long but week but reading and finished The Sensualist & the Untouched 324 pages Standalone
Finished 1/27/15
Rating 3.5 stars

This is one book that flood the senses and you have to digest it before you can rate or review it. this is almost as much of an opposites attract as you can get a self styled "Frigid Virgin and a hedonist meet to help the frigid man to deal with whatever is causing him to be disassociated from feeling aroused by anyone. if this is not enough to deal with the virgins father suffers a bad heart attack and you have that stress also. He is referred to the hedonist by his psychiatrist.

Here's a quick review.
I liked the pace of the story and I found it enjoyable with 3 different love stories. It was strange with a book where the villain was named the same as me. I also loved how they all worked out a the elaborate plan to get the revenge on Anita Gaye. I give it 4 stars as I was entertained through the whole story, but wasn't blown away.

No Place to Run (KGI, #2) by Maya Banks

What a difference a book makes! I was hesitant to read this second book in the KGI series. The first book did not wow me and left me wondering if I wanted to start this series. I am glad that I did continue, because this one was much better.

Sam and his brothers were on a mission in Mexico working undercover to confiscate an arms shipment when Sam met Sophie. Their encounters made them both wanting more. Little did Sam know that Sophie was the daughter of Alex Mouton who is at the top of the most wanted list in the US?
Five months later and Sophie is pregnant with Sam’s baby and on the run for killing her father. Her uncle is desperately looking for her since she is the only one with the key to her father’s empire. Asking the Kelly’s boys to help will also jeopardize them as well as their family. In Kelly fashion, the brothers ban together to save Sophia and her unborn child.

I really liked Sophie who was fierce and protective. She stood up to what she believed while still wanting to belong and be loved by a family. She even stood up to the Kelly brothers, which few people did. I also like how the family bans together and the closeness of all family members. Even Rusty, the teenage runaway that was introduced in book 1 had a part. I am looking forward to reading more about this family and in particular Garrett’s story.

Carnal Secrets (The Phoenix Pack, #3) by Suzanne Wright
Book:
Carnal Secrets (Alternative Read: Title "C" )
Read: 1/31
Rating & Review: ★★★.
I really liked Nick but Shaya grated my nerves. Punishing the man you love and want shouldnt last as long as Shaya made it last.

Nick didn't claim Shaya in book 2 when it was revealed that they were mates. Shaya was devastated that he rejected bonding with her so she left the pack. After sometime Nick went after her, and boy she made him work, grovel and prostrate himself in his order to gain forgivenesses.

In addition to the emotional stress of not having the bond with his mate, Nick was battling a chronic condition so it was affecting his health. Then the group as a whole we're trying to figure out who is betraying shifters to the human group called the extremists which were humans against unnatural beings.

A lot was going on, so Shaya dragging out her punishment got old by 50% of the book.

What I did like was that this book had less sex than the prior books, so much more plot. Nick was the nicest hero in this series too.
