I've heard from her today and she has dropped out of the SS game :•(
I spoke to Jenne about a replacement bit as it is so..."
Ah well, real life has a tendency to get in the way.

I've read this series - quite a few years ago though and I'm having trouble recalling the details o_O But I do remember enjoying it at the time!

SPOT # 92

FINISHED 29 JAN
RATING ☆☆☆•5
REVIEW
What can I say about this book??
I love horror books, I was a mahoosive Stephen King fan when I was younger, and literally hoovered up anything he wrote, also James Herbert and Dean Koontz, so I have read my fair share of yeuch throughout the years. ........oh but this book!!!
Stephen King reviewed this on GR and said that it scared the shit out of him, that means you have to read it right??
I can safely say that this is the only book that has EVER made me gag!
I was listening to it on audio and I had to take my earphones out as I thought I was going to hurl lol.
On an island just off of Canada a scout troop go to spend a weekend there, as they do every year, with no technology or phones allowed, they go to have a great time, apart from this time a man shows up out of nowhere, he is desperately hungry, and I mean HUNGRY, to the point that he starts eating the chair!!
Scout Master Tim helps him inside the cabin they stay in as he knows a bit of first aid and he can clearly see that the man is ill, but he doesn't know how ill ........until he sees something moving in the man's stomach!
A stomach churning - nearly 4☆ read
Week 11
Current Spot: 92
Read:
Whiskey and Water by Elizabeth Bear (Promethean Age #2)
Finished: 29 January 2015
Rating: *****
As much as I loved Blood and Iron, this sequel outshines the first book by far. Seven years after the war, Elaine rules as Queen of the Daoine Sidhe, Matthew has broken his former mentor and continues to protect New York on his own, Jane Andraste is rebuilding her army and all hell is about to break loose again in Faerie, Hell and on Earth alike. Bear's stunning, intricate worldbuilding accompanied by beautiful writing and the masterful way in which she juggles her myriad fascinating characters and compelling story threads makes this wonderful fantasy novel a masterpiece.

Week #11: Spot 92 - 2nd in series

Book:The Good, the Bad, and the Undead by Kim Harrison
Read: January 30, 2015
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Review:
I started this book just over a year ago and stopped when Ivy and Rachel's weird relationship took a turn for the even stranger. Nevertheless, one of my other groups is doing a buddy read so I decided to give it another go. I'm glad I did because once I got past the weird bits, the story became really good and I ended up really enjoying it by the end.

It is the first in a series although it's not linked as such here on GR. Is that okay?"
yes that's fine Laurla, #1 can class as a standalone or #1 in a series so yours is fine :o)
Week 12
Current Spot: 102
Read:
The Gentle Axe by R.N. Morris (Porfiry Petrovich #1)
Finished: 30 January 2015
Rating: ****
St. Petersburg, winter 1866: The bodies of two dead men are found in a park, one obviously murdered, the other, the first victim's supposed murderer, seemingly a suicide. But as investigating magistrate Porfiry Petrovich digs into the case, it turns out to be far more complex than it appears at first glance... An atmospheric historical mystery with an intriguing, well realized setting.

Thanks ladies! ♥ At least I got to spend the day curled up on the couch with my cats and a book, so it's not all bad. ;)

Happy Birthday - feel better!
