Spot 45 ~ went w/alternate published 2012

Finished 12/13/14
Review: so I have to say after reading the blurb......I really wasn't looking forward to reading this. A book about suicide especially with it being December and I usually read upbeat books at holiday time. I'm glad I was "forced" to read this so to speak (I had to read this for another challenge). This really is a well written book dealing with suicide and why people think about it. Vince, Adam and Caitlin (Casper) have interesting friendships. Speaks to how it doesn't matter where you come from - everyone has problems. These three characters will stay with me for a while.

Book: Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover by Sarah MacLean
Series: The Rules of Scoundrels #4
Read date: 12.12.14
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I loved this one. This series follows four owners of gambling club The Fallen Angel. In this book we were left with mysterious one - Chase. Nobody knows anything about Chase, besides that he runs the club and knows everyones secrets.
Since her scandal is again talk of the ton, to secure her daughters future, Georgiana is looking for a husband with the title. Since she knows secrets about every man of the ton, she already picked one. It would be much easier if ton would change their opinion of her. Enters Duncan, owner of few newspapers in the London, including Scandal Sheet which started rumors again. To ease his guilt, he promises to help Georgiana and through his papers change ton's opinion of her. But he also has secrets he doesn't want anyone to know because his and his sister's life depend on them.
I think this one ended my favorite of the series (ok, it's close call between first and last :P). Too bad series is finished. :(

My Review
I enjoyed this book but I'm not going to lie they are kind of all alike. I think the reason I'm still reading them is to find out what happens to Richard and Bitter End. In this book things with Richard finally come to a close and he finally gets what he deserves. It is fun to see the transformation of the main character, Jane, from big city California to small town Texas. Although all the Texas men seem to be about the same through all four of these book. I've already started on #5 because I'm curious to see the story behind the ghost town, Bitter End.
Summary Taken from Goodreads:
They call her Dr. Texas. She's Jane Dickinson from California, a newly graduated GP who's working at the clinic in the small town of Promise, Texas. Just of a couple of years--then she'll head back home. They call him Mr. Grouch. Cal Patterson was left at the altar by his out-of-state fiancee, and he's not over it yet. Too bad Jane reminds him of his almost-bride in more ways than one

Teams will roll on Friday (12/19) two times for two spots. No roll on 12/26. Both book's deadline will be 1/2 and then the game resumes it's normal schedule.
If you feel you won't be able to manage either holiday's rolls that's ok. Just let your team know and you can skip those rolls without penalizing the team.

Four stars
I enjoyed the story a lot. It was an easy read and it kind of reminded me of fifty shades a bit. If the next few books are anything like this one then I can't wait to read them!

Book: At Last by Jill Shalvis
Series: Lucky Harbor #5
Read date: 21.12.14
Rating: ★★★
Review:
I didn't like this one as previous ones. It was still good book, just not as good. My main problem was female MC. For some reason she was going on my nerves. She definitely didn't deserve the guy.
Amy had tough childhood (she ran away from home when she was 16) and now is living in Lucky Harbor trying to follow her grandma's footsteps. Years ago her grandma was here on a vacation and 'found herself' so Amy believes if she goes where grandma was, she'll do the same. She doesn't need anybody and is pushing people away (except for another runaway) and even when she needs help (she got lost in the woods) she's too proud to admit it and to take offered help.

I really like this long lasting series and can't wait to see where they go from here....
Old habits die hard. And I plan on murdering someone before the night is through.
Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very good at it. Now, I’m ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was thirteen.
Oh, I don’t think the mission will be easy, but turns out it’s a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I’m coming for her. So now I’m up against the army of lethal bounty hunters she hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister’s head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority. Taking Mab out is a close second.
Good thing I’ve got my powerful Stone and Ice magic — and my irresistible lover Owen Grayson — to watch my back. This battle has been years in the making, and there’s a chance I won’t survive. But if I’m going down, then Mab’s coming with me...no matter what I have to do to make that happen

I don't know why, but this book just didn't do it for me. I don't even know what I expected. I didn't mind that the accident was so sudden, it was more so the hospitAl aftermath that bothered me so much. It wasn't a bad read it was just a little more dull than I expected

Review:
Finally the mystery of Bitter End has been solved and some pretty crazy things happen in this book. This book was by far my favorite of the series and if this is the last book I read in the series I'm perfectly fine with that. But I'm sure I'll be reading the next two books as well.
Review taken from Goodreads:
Wade MCMillen might be a minister, but he's also a man. An unmarried and very attractive one. Is it as a "man" that he responds to the lovely young woman who shows up in Promise, pregnant and alone? Or as a man of God? Maybe it's both. Amy Thornton hopes to make a new life for herself and her baby, and to do that, she "needs" Reverend McMillen's help, his compassion. What she "wants" is the love of a man named Wade..

I've never read a medieval book before.I didn't expect to like it to be honest but I absolutely loved it! The book kept Me so entranced that I didn't want to stop. Iain and Judith story is so fantastic and I can't wait for the second one

I am really enjoying this fast paced series and can[t wait to see what else will come...
I never thought Id need a vacation from being an assassin.
My name is Gin Blanco, and Im the assassin the Spider. All the Ashlands lowlifes are gunning for me and trying to make a name for themselves by taking out the Spider. So I think its a good idea to get out of Ashland for a while until things cool down.
So Im headed south to a swanky beach town, along with my baby sister, Bria, for a weekend of fun in the sun. But when an old friend of Bria is threatened by a powerful vampire with deadly elemental magic, it looks like I have to dig my silverstone knives out of my suitcase after all. But this time, not even my own Ice and Stone power may be enough to save me from coming home in a pine box

Review: I've been eagerly anticipating Torin's book since finishing the last LotU book. I loved the banter between Torin and Keeley. Interesting that Showalter made him a warrior when all we've seen of him is in his computer room - that was cool. My only gripe - Torin was IMO kinda whiny ~ wishy washy which I found irritating - could just be me.

Review: Reaver's twin....Reaver's twin. Hmmmm hated him in the last few books but as always Ione made me love him in his book. Took me a little to remember what had happened in previous book between Revenant and Blaspheme. I really enjoyed this one. Interesting ending to this chapter of their lives intertwined with the Horsemen.

I know - while I enjoyed it - it seemed off. Also (view spoiler)

I love this series. I think this one was my favorite so far. It was keeping me on the edge whole time.
Everything starts when Nathan was prisoner of war and all f the sudden he hears voice in his head telling him everything is going to be fine and help is coming.
Shea (and her sister) has unique ability to 'find' (telepathically) someone and ease pain for short period. And to talk to that person, of course. Because of that ability she (and her sister) is being hunted by someone.
While talking to Nathan, she managed to contact his family - Kellys, all of them ex military and now having their own company working mostly on hostage recovery - and help them locate Nathan. After Nathan is saved, Shea disappears from his 'mind'. Until one day he hears her cry for help.

Wow!!! I absolutely loved this book. It was a super cute read that was funny and heart warming. This was my first book by Sarah and I intend to read more. It was a little slow in the beginning but definitely made up for it in the end. I love the relationship that developed between all the different characters. There were definitely some twists and turns along the way that I did not expect to happen. I can't wait to read another one of her books.
Review from Goodreads:
At 36, Genie Michaels is beginning to feel that she has hit the snooze button on her life one too many times. When her “commitment-phobic” boyfriend Hugh proposes on national TV—not to Genie, but to an unknown mystery woman—Genie’s wise-cracking friend Patty doesn’t hesitate to give her some tough love: “You remind me of that idiot Sleeping Beauty, lying around like a zombie waiting for your prince. Well, guess what, he rode right past your castle and now you have a choice – you can either go back to bed or you can wake up!”
Genie chooses to wake up. After some questionable advice, her first step is to allow everyone to believe she’s Hugh’s real fiancée. She’ll let him be the one to explain the mistake. Naturally the good news travels fast and, in a heartbeat, Genie’s parents are booking a reception hall while friends are showering her with gifts. Genie feels bad about the deception, but at last everyone is dancing to her tune, and she can’t help but enjoy it. Particularly when a certain too-handsome-for-his-own-good Greek carpenter shows up on the scene thinking he’s hotter than Tabasco. Genie realizes that she never needed a man to start her life – to buy a home, to get a better job, or even to wear a diamond ring. And if Prince Charming wants to show up while she’s at it, she just might teach him a thing or two.
