I'm looking for a contemporary romance book I read a few years ago. The heroine is a cartoonist and her characters are four animals, one was a duck I think. I feel like she had the live versions of her characters and she used them for inspiration.

In addition to the cartoon, I think she was in the process of launching a merchandise line for the characters similar to something you would see Disney or Marvel do.

I also think that she was in process of moving out of her current location and she may have been secluded there for a while because of some sort of trauma.

There was a hero and friend/romantic vibe but I feel like that was storyline was secondary to her story of personal growth.

Yes, mystery solved! It's Forget me not. Makes sense, Ive read a ton of Fern Michael's books.
