The main character is a female writer of biographies. She returns to live in her parents house (who are death) in a small town. There she finds out that her childhood bestfriend is murdered. She gets interested about the case and tries to investigate by herself collecting information to write a book about her best friend's life.
(view spoiler)[She talks with her parents, sister and husband, and finds out about her two lovers. One of them is a drug addict who latter kills himself, and the other one is the her (the main character's) ex boyfriend. At the end she finds out that her friend was raped as a teenager and got pregnant. And the girl she taught was her sister is actually the her daughter. The murderer is the drug addict's mother. The book ends with the main character being together with one police officer who worked on the investigation. Also the main character has a sister who is married and has two children, but her husband is abusive. When he hurts one of her daughters she decides to left him. (hide spoiler)]

I am sure that the author of this book is from Sweden, and I think is a female.
