Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) Hi, I'm new here. I own probably about as many adult fiction books as my local branch of the public library, and yet I read a ton of library books and am always getting more books. I never intend to stop getting more books, and see no problem with owning such an extensive library, but I did actually intend to read every book I brought home. So I am aiming for Mt. Everest I think this year. I read about 300 books per year, usually, so that would mean about 1/3 of my reading should be books I own to reach that goal. :)

Stephanie A. | 11 comments Hello! I first discovered this challenge last year, and decided to observe until I got the hang of it. I meant to join right away in January this year, but I waylaid myself trying to write a good intro post, and now here the year is almost half gone! So, better late than never, I'm officially starting with Mount Blanc.

I average 100-120 books a year, but without making a concentrated effort to read down my shelves, last year I read only four books that would have qualified for this challenge. I have at least 150 unread books, so part of my goal is to wade through the ones I bought just because they were cheap and not at the library, to see if there are any I can give away once I've satisfied my curiosity. Maybe one day I'll be able to fit all my books on shelves instead of boxes again??

Angie Hi everyone! I'm Angie and I only discovered your group today. As it's kind of late in the year, I thought I'd start with a modest number, that is Mount Wycheproof, with an option to upgrade. Actually, the number of unread books on my shelves is much (!) higher, but I thought I'd better tackle that pile right now, rather than putting it off until next year. And who knows, maybe this will be the warm-up I need to attack Mt. Everest in 2021. ;-)

Welcome Lynda! Hope you can get a good amount of climbing in before December is over!

Lynda Thanks, Bev.

message 160: by Hilde (new)

Hilde Helseth Hi, I decided to join since most of the books I read are books that I own, I got a lot from eBay and yearly sales through the years in Norway and Sweden, and I have a lot more books than are registered on Goodreads. I tend to binge-ad from time to time. I even have a small room/wardrobe filled with books from when I moved in to my current apartment in 2008, and the bedroom, living room, hall and kitchen! This year I started to count how many of my own books I read up against how many I buy. So far this year I have read 106 owned TBR, and expect to read at least 35 more. I'll sign up for Mount Olympus since I'm already over the limit for Mount Everest.

Bev, Unfortunately, I have to leave the group. My health prevents me from typing much (hands) and I must keep my legs elevated day and night, Lynda

Oh, Lynda. I'm so sorry. If you are still able to read or listen to your books and were able to check in with a quick post ("Read 10 books so far") ever so often, we'd love to see you stop by .
