I'll jump on! I started The Toll yesterday, I'm already at Part 3: The Year of the Cobra: Chapter 29. (view spoiler)[I love this series so much! It is hands down one of my all time favorite! The time line of this book is a little confusing at the moment as to when it switches perspectives it also sometimes switches years. Like Citra's chapters are set 3 years after the island sunk and Greyson's are closer to within a year year it sunk. Some of Goddard's are a year after after and some are 3? I think? So the timeline is a little confusing, but not so much as to diminish how much I am enjoying the book.

I am really loving the plot. I like seeing how all the people are affected after the Thunderhead cuts of communication with them. I'm curious to see how Greyson (aka the Toll) plays into the grand scheme of things. I'm very curious about what is being the steel doors on the island and what the Thunderhead is building there. I want Rowan's name to be cleared, and him not to end up dead, but with how much false confessing he has been doing I wouldn't be surprised (very sad, but not surprised) if he did end up dead. I also want to know what Citra is supposed to be looking for in the backbrain, and what she actually finds. I am all set to binge and finish this book either today or tomorrow.! (hide spoiler)]

Finished! (view spoiler)[I love this series so much! It was very well done and the only fault I would with it was the very beginning timeline confused me. I probably confused myself for a large chunk of it, but it wasn't one straight timeline and it through me off.

Personally, I think space should be left alone. I don't think we need to explore it, and I definitely don't think we should go colonize another planet. Though, for this book, I think that sending spaceships to other planets was a good conclusion and resolution. While not agreeing with it, I appreciation it.

I absolutely loved how it wrapped up, I think demolishing the Scythedom was a great thing. I think the fact that the founding Scythes hid diseases in their rings was a great idea, I absolutely loved it. I just overall really enjoyed the direction these books took. I do think that the human population should be self-sustaining, and we shouldn't become immortal, and we definitely shouldn't need scythes to kill us. Though, with death having been conquered I do 100% agree that they were needed for a time.

I do wish we got to see more of Citra and Rowan after Citra gave up her ring, whether on their new planet, or before she became deadish. We just didn't get to see a whole lot of their relationship and I just wanted a little more, but I am very happy where it left off nonetheless. Neal Schusterman ended the series very well, while also leaving it a little open.

I can't express with words how well done I think this series was and how much I absolutely loved it. It is definitely one of my top all time favorites! (hide spoiler)]

I think the only one I kind of felt bad for was the technician, but really, he was more excited about that cloth over Rowans face being burnt fast so that Rowan wouldn’t miss the flames. The poor technician, at least Constantine thought of ending him swiftly with a bullet to the heart. Rand confuses me at times. She loves Tyger of that much I am certain now, even when his memory construct couldn’t remember her, she still visited him and talked with him. I think I’m liking Jeri more and more now. Scythe Dante is so full of himself but at least he is making that announcement about Goddard being there when the mass gleaning of NewHope colony happened. I am so glad those scythes in Texas rose against Goddard and saved Rowan, it was sad that all those people were gleaned because Goddard was slighted. (hide spoiler)]

I am so glad that things were tied up so good at then end, well all except for Goddard, I guess… I hope Rand is happy with the new Tyger, he seems like he is maturing more now. I am happy for Faraday too; he is a scythe but with no immunity ring because the Thunderhead is super smart and is now having people die of “natural causes” to regulate the population. I was so sure Goddard was going to be killed by Rowan, but I liked his ending so much more! (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to chapter 15 and enjoying it but not loving it. The first book was still the best one.
Responding to the chapter 13 spoilers (view spoiler)[I too felt bad for Faraday but thought his giving them as proper of a burial as possible was lovely. I hope he snaps out of his depressive hole soon though.

As for Citra and Rowan, I want them to be able to see each other soon. The books are better when they are on page together. I'd like to know how they could still think Rowan guilty when they know how crazy Goddard is.

Good question about the Thunderhead being in love with Greyson. It almost seems like it. But can an all knowing AI type being love? Who knows I guess! (hide spoiler)]

Finished. Ouch! It took me a while to finish this book. So slow compared to the first two. I didn't like it as much as the first two books in the series.
