Are there human adults around? Or is the kid the only human?
How did the robots come to be?
This sounds like Second Ending by James White. Written in the early 60's.I read it in a collection of short stories by James called Monsters and Medics - it was the main story.
I don't think its a child, but a grown man, and there is a team of robots caring for him as the last human. But the rest, including the ending sounds exactly like this.

I think that I am Mother was inspired by it but is too Terminator-esque for me.

Can't remember title or author.,
No other humans, just the child. The robot is also alone.
More:
The nurse robot tries to rebuild the world and breed humans but fails. Eventually manages to find another planet and populate it. I think the new people are blue? The child is kept in suspended animation whilst the robot works away. The robot wears out at the end....
