I've read the first 5 stories and I'm enjoying the book so far. If you like to read science fiction this would be a good book to read.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'm reading a book called Once a Wolf and finishing up a short story collection called Sin's Doorway & Other Ominous Entrances The Selected Stories of Manly Wade Wellman, Volume 4. I love Manly Wade Wellman's writing, so I'm enjoying the book. I think Once a Hero will be a good book as well.

Janinehanine | 1 comments Reading a new novel by [[Ki Longfellow:]] about Hypatia of Alexandria called [Flow Down Like Silver:] (love the title!). Read her [The Secret Magdalene:] and was blown away.

message 7: by Narnies (new)

Narnies I just finished reading Karen Marie Monings "Fever" series and am now impatiently starting my year long wait until the final comes out. They were, without a doubt, enthralling!

Now im about to start reading "The child called It."

Have recently ordered the sequel to the Girl With the Dragon Tatoo, and the first book in the Blood Ties series...hope it lives up to expectations.

I'm going to have to check those out. I'm a sucker for historical (historical fiction, historical fantasy, etc.) novels. Thanks for the rec!

I'm a few hours away from starting "My Soul To Lose" by Rachel Vincent, and "Hold Still" by Nina LaCour. Just finished "Hush, Hush" by Becca Fitzpatrick and "The Adoration of Jenna Fox" by Mary E. Pearson.

"Hush, Hush" was pretty similar to Twilight, but (I think) a lot better. The main character, Nora, is very well aware of the danger that the Leading Boy (Patch) poses, and she's doing her best to stay away and stay safe--but she can't quite manage it. I'm kind of tired of vampires, too, so the fact that Patch was something else (go find out what) was really refreshing.

"The Adoration of Jenna Fox" was just amazing. Futuristic sci fi utopia. A girl who's struggling to find out who she is and how she fits into society. It's not heavy-handed with a theme or message like a lot of utopia/dystopia novels are. And the writing itself was gorgeous. I think I have a fangirl crush on Pearson.

(As well as being a historical nut, I have a thing for young adult literature. In case you couldn't tell.)

Margaret L2010 (margaret_l2010) | 4 comments I am reading "blonde with a wand" by Vicki Lewis Thompson

message 14: by Keri (new)

Keri | 2 comments Just finished reading the first three books in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh. It does have vampires in it, but they're not the main focus of the story. So if you're interested in some paranormal romance that's not all about the vampires then I think this is a good world to get into.

Keri, I read the Guild Hunter series pretty recently and enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite thing I've ever read but it was a refreshing new spin on vampires in my opinion. I take it you've read the Gardella Vampire Chronicles?

message 16: by LindaD (new)

LindaD (freedom333) | 3 comments Just started The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir on CD. I am packing to move and it keeps me company. So far, I like it. It is told mainly from Elizabeth's POV starting as a child.
