Our book obsessions must have started somewhere, right? What book made you love reading? What made it so special?

When I was in elementary school, I loved the Junie B. Jones series, so I feel like that was the initial spark. Then, when I was in middle school, we were all required to read books and take quizzes on them, which would give us points. We had to have a certain number of points each quarter, and I became obsessed with getting points and would read all the time lol.

But I think what really started it was - and this is kinda embarrassing - the Twilight series. I was obsessed, my friends were obsessed. I gobbled those books up and continued to gobble up pretty much any other YA book I could get my hands on. I don't know what attracted me to it - the cover maybe? In ways, I could relate to Bella. I perceived myself as plain and liked to read. My life was totally boring. But I could live vicariously through her lol.

Looking back, I know all of the problems with the series, but it's still kind of a guilty pleasure lol and holds a special place in my heart. I made friends because of it and began reading so much more because I wanted to, not because I had to.

It isn't what inspired me to be an English major (Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre did that), but it did spark something, no matter how embarrassing lol.
