Hopefully long enough for Julia's Chocolates to get some more votes lol. Not that it matters I'm going to read it regardless.

Yes, The Historian is definately one you want to start ahead of time. It is very long, and would we hard for someone to read in just the 2 weeks of the discussion.

Vicki, I am reading The Historian, and I have not read Dracula. They talk about the book Dracula in The Historian, but the Historian is more about the actual history of Vlad the Impaler (the real person who the fictional Count Dracula was based on) and about the vampire legends in many European countries. Actually might be better to read The Historian first, then follow up with the fictional story of Dracula afterwards.
It's good. The story does involve several generations of a family, and skips around alot from one generation to another, so you have to pay attention to figure out who is telling the story and what period of time you are in. And I am reading it as well as several other books (a usual occurance for me) so I will read a huge chunk one day, then put it down for a couple days, then go back to it. But I am enjoying it. It is just VERY long. :o)

Anyway the reads for November are going to be Julia's Chocolates and The Shadow of the Wind, is that right??
Hi Cindy, Yes those are the two "official" reads for November. But many of us who voted for The Handmaid's Tale have decided to read it in November to, so it will be an additional read for anyone interested (but not an official read). :o)
And yes, for some reason, we ended up discussing one of the October reads (The Historian) in this Novemeber poll thread. :o)
