In the Tidbits section of her website, Sarah said that the original title was "Strange Gifts". It was changed to "Garden Spells and Southern Belles", then shortened to just "Garden Spells." Although the Strange Gifts title allows for all the gifts that the Waverleys have, I like Garden Spells since Claire, her gift and the garden are such a huge part of the book. Plus, not using such an encompassing name leaves room for more books!
The original title was Strange Gifts. Garden Spells or Strange Gifts or Wonderful Amazing Book...the book is AWESOME!!!
Strange Grifts was the original title. I love Garden spells much better. That is part of the reason I read this book, I was at a local Goodwill and wanted to find something new to read. I saw the title Garden Spells and was enchanted. I bought it and took it home to read. I finished it the first day... I can not wait for First Frost...

The title was originally Strange Gifts. I like the title GardenSpells much better and loved the book which we used as a book club selection quite a while ago.

I would be cheating if I answered Strange Gifts after reading everyone else's answer. Several people have commented that they like Garden Spells better and I agree, but I think that strange gifts works too. Evanelle gives Strange Gifts to people that helps them, Bay has a gift of knowing where people and things belong, and Claire and Sydney have their "Waverly gifts". But I think Garden Spells is more magical!
