ABANDONED. Realistic Fiction about a high school basketball player

I read a really interesting realistic fiction book about a high schooler last summer. I believe it is either his junior or senior year of high school, and he hasn’t really considered college. His dad owns a big company in town and he always assumed he would end up working there. This is until a coach (I think?) reaches out to him and wants him to come to his division two college to play point guard. The book is mostly about him trying to keep good grades and play well so he can get the scholarship needed for him to play. Other details I remember include: his ginormous best friend who plays center on the high school team. He doesn’t get the best grades but is an amazing artist. The “super awesome” assistant coach who comes to their school. And, his ballhog teammate who plays shooting guard. Can you help me?

Were the characters white? I'm finding a lot of YA books about African American basketball players.
