theDuke | 6496 comments Evening all. Just checking the scores..as i think there's a mistake somewhere...be back in a mo....

Edit: Right then, sorted. Fishy Jim & Derek posted their votes within a minute of each other, and Jim's points got left out...corrected the scores on my vote, so i think this is right now.

Well...erm...wasn't that interesting?! I must admit, i haven't been online these last couple of days, so i haven't really familarized myself with this lot. Only just got my votes in as well.

Anyway....a man whom for the last few weeks, hasn't had that much success with his noms of late; comes out on top this week. His nom 'Honky Tonk Train Blues by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, scored a respectable 17 points, so this week's winner with the gold gong is..........Gordon. Well done sah.

2nd placer, is the sole surviving 1950's rock & roller (yeah..he's still alive folks...86 years young! :) )...'Precious Lord' by Little Richard, garnered 13 points, so KJS picks up a silver gong.

And finally, for the 2nd week in a row, the 60/70s heavy rockers , get another mention, collect a modest 9 points with their leftfield reggae number, 'D'yer Mak'er' by Led Zeppelin, so Brass Neck gets the bronze gong.

And that's that!

Can't think. Must have been some dodgy progger.

Brass Neck | 3979 comments 'dodgy progger' - tautology? Anyway, where am I off to this weekend you didn't ask? Why off the Sheffield O2 Academy, once the Top Rank nightclub, for a 2 day HRH Prog fest. Ooo and indeed er, missus.

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Suddenly my crap weekend doesn't look so crap after all. Have fun, Brasso.

Brass Neck | 3979 comments FUN??? It's prog, maaaan. I'll stroke my beard, nod my head, dab patchouli oil on my afghan coat and flap my loon pants with gusto.

Actually HRH always book bands well outside the title of their fests and there will be plenty of more conventional rock bands such as Iceland's finest, Vintage Caravan and since when were Urinal Peep prog?

Craig White | 6727 comments no, that's perhaps out of order - i sincerely hope the audience has a good time...............both of you!!!!!

message 63: by Brass Neck (new)

Brass Neck | 3979 comments And I 'won' tickets (as I have for all the HRH Fests that interest me) so it's only £11 a pop ('booking fee' for the weekend with free bed at me Ma's. What's not to love? Oh yeah ….. the music?

How many Hawkwind spin-off/tribute acts can one line-up contain? And do they actually have Caravan on the same bill as a Caravan tribute act?

Derek W | 1367 comments You need to investigate the US 'jam band' scene if you want daft names. I'm contemplating listening to some Hypnotic Clambake later.

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments I forgot to mention to Duke that when I went to Tesco on Saturday there was a bloke in there wearing a King Lizard & the Gizzard Blizzard T-shirt.

Vintage Caravan are a young Icelandic classic/hard rock band who, IMO, have very little progness about them and certainly nowt to do wi' t'Canterbury scene. 'ave a butcher's;
