While there are many great books and series that have detailed magic systems and fantastic world-building (see: Top Three World-building), not all of them would be great places to find yourself trying to survive in. This week, share the three fantasy worlds you would like to live in.

Aakash (procrastinator) | 448 comments Yup this is a great topic.
1. Harry Potter world after the war with Voldemort. Not very interested to fight in the war.
2. It would be a hard life to live like a demigod but I would still chose Percy Jackson world.
3.And of course Narnia where Aslan rules.

message 3: by Sneha (new)

Sneha (lovegood19) I would love to live in the Harry Potter world, the Percy Jackson world and the Grishaverse world.

Bea | 2050 comments -Middle-Earth in a time of peace. I'd love to have a nice, cozy room in Rivendell

-The world from Harry Potter (obviously)

-The world from the Kingkiller Chronicles might be nice to visit, too.

Narilka | 5698 comments Middle-Earth and Discworld are easily my top two. That third spot is a tough one.

Shaitarn | 2185 comments 1/Earthsea (I'd want to learn how to be a wizard, even thought they don't allow girls at the school on Roke)
2/Middle-earth. I'll see you in Rivendell, Bea!
3/Forgotten Realms, especially if I can be my half-elf paladin from Neverwinter Nights, with a Halfling rogue sidekick.

Shae | 372 comments 1. Yep, Middle-Earth for sure - I would love to go hang out with the Ent's in Fanghorn Forest :-)
2. Nevermoor Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow - I would love to see all the Wunimals (my son and I loved the description of the Magnificat).
3. The city of Bulikov from the City of Stairs - I think this would be an amazing place to explore!

Mel | 2360 comments 1. Lyra's Oxford Many places I'd want to live in if I were one of the lucky few with powers/privilege. But in her world everyone has a spirit animal as a constant companion. Having your literal soulmate at your side at all times would be a great comfort. I'd also be cool with being a witch though. :P

2. Howl's Moving Castle I realize this is kind of cheating, but if I could live in Howl's Moving Castle, with a door that can open unto different places and worlds, that is the dream. I'd set up shop just like Sophie, and have a door that opened on a field on wildflowers, and then have another open up to see my friends in the human world. The no-nonsense kind of practical, fresh-baked-bread sort of witching life sounds nice and cozy.

3. Pern - There may be a more deserving world for my number 3, but Pern gets a mention because Piemur's love for bubbly pies in Dragonsinger led me on my first foray into online fandom, searching for a recipe, certain that they had to be real. Aw man, this is going to date me, but I still remember discovering PernMUSH in the mid-90s, back in the heyday of IRC chatrooms, and coming to the disappointing realization that bubbly pies and hot cups of klah were fantasy foods. All the recipes were fan interpretations, and so I'd never really know what they tasted like. Plus, hey, common. I want to ride a dragon, and drink a skin of wine with Masterharper Robinton, and jam together with Menolly, maybe get her fire lizards to sing backup harmony... all the good stuff.
