I'm really struggling with Jodahs.
I wanted to like it because I felt bad: it's the first of its kind and is struggling as a result. But it's so...irritating.
Like...it wants to mate...with siblings...that's some sort of incest, right? Something doesn't sit right with me.
And I feel bad for Tomas and Jesusa. They think they're bound to Jodahs because it saved them because it won't tell them the truth. The alternative, of course, isn't much better. Jesusa would essentially become a breeding machine. But doesn't Jodahs owe it to them to be more honest?
At least when Lilith was bonded with Nikanj, she had an idea of what was happening.
Maybe this is just because it's told in the first person, and, after three books, my sympathy for the Oankali is really running dry, but, ugh. I'm so frustrated.
