PamG (lynguy1) | 1148 comments Here is my 3.33 rounded to 3 stars review of Sign Here Sign Here by Claudia Lux by Claudia Lux.

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Overall, this unique, thought-provoking, and entertaining novel has great characterization, and a tense and suspenseful part three. This book has a clever premise and a solid mystery with some twists that will keep readers guessing and others that were somewhat predictable. The world-building is done well, but this is a slow-paced novel that took a while to draw me into the story line.

This book has a solid premise and a mystery, but it’s much more than that. There’s a focus on the victim and the one who found her more than the murder itself. It’s about the ability for all to walk safely on streets. Overall, this story is gripping, thought-provoking, and emotional, with wonderful characterization and many scenes of heartache and hope.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Overall, this fantasy is gripping, heart-breaking, and thought-provoking. The high stakes and smooth writing made it a page turner. However, the pace slowed at times, and I wanted a more extensive world-building.

PamG (lynguy1) | 1148 comments Here is my 3.18 rounded to 3 stars review of The Wilderwomen The Wilderwomen by Ruth Emmie Lang by Ruth Emmie Lang:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Magical realism, great dialogue, a mother’s disappearance, an unforgettable journey, and sisters reconnecting, combined to make this novel unique and enjoyable. However, it is written in a meandering fashion that tends to subdue the suspense and mystery. Additionally, there are chapters that go back in time that tend to disrupt the flow.

@Pam

It's a good series. I've read two books so far, and I enjoyed them both. Plus the books were quite clean. I can enjoy a Romantic Suspense book even when it's not clean. If a scene gets too explicit for me, I simply skim over it. Still, I liked that I didn't have to do that here. I'm looking forward to reading the third book.

By the way, I'm on the lookout for a good Romantic Suspense featuring a psychic female protagonist. Something along the lines of Stealing Shadows by Kay Hooper, Now You See Her by Linda Howard, and Every Breath She Takes by Norah Wilson. Any suggestions? Thanks :-)

That sounds great. I haven't read it, but have you tried Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan? Both the male and female leads have some psychic abilities. I've been wanting to try it, but haven't gotten to it yet.

You're welcome. I'm so glad you're enjoying it. Now, I need to read it. I came across another series. I don't know anything about it other than many of the books average above a 4.0. They are Paranormal mysteries featuring a female psychic investigator. As far as I can tell they're not paranormal romantic suspense. The first book in the series is What the Cat Knew by P.D. Workman. Have you read it? Was it any good? There's about 15 books in the series.

My 2.9 rounded to 3 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

This is a historical fiction novel based on a real family of serial killers known at the Bloody Benders. Overall, this story is startling, violent, horrifying, thought provoking, and emotional, with great world-building and characterization. It was a hair-raising and chilling read. So why only 3 stars? The alternating points of view occasionally disrupted the flow. Additionally, the writing was fluent at times and felt stilted and stylistic at other times.

My 2.91 rounded to 3 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Overall, this magical realism novella is short, somewhat peculiar, and gripping. It is satirical at times, sad at other times, and occasionally uplifting. However, the writing style felt choppy to me, and I did not like the ending. Despite this, I’m glad I read it. It’s unusual and thought-provoking.

This light and humorous paranormal rom-com was entertaining. The main characters are better defined than I initially expected, and the physical world-building was well done. It also tackled some profound themes that added to its energy and depth.

My 3.26 rounded to 3 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The author did a great job of transporting me to this community in both timelines. The imagery was extraordinary. Overall, this was an entertaining story that kept me engaged. The rich storyline with its layered plot, several interesting characters, and plenty of action made this a pleasurable read.

However, the pacing in the middle section of the book was slow. My other quibble is that there were times when the writing was more telling than showing. This also affected the novel’s pacing.

What more could I ask for than intrigue, history, science, and mystery in an action thriller?

Book 3: Dark Legacy by Trish McCallan
Book 5: Dark Terror by Sandra Owens
Book 6: Dark Burning by Lori Ryan

Right now I'm reading Keep Me Safe by Maya Banks. It's the first book in her Slow Burn series and features a psychic female protagonist. So far I'm enjoying it.
