André (alfarrabiste) | 1342 comments What is the rule when the real name behind a pseudonym is known ? Should it be included as second author ?

message 2: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments No, only if the (Goodreads) author requests it, or if some editions were published under the real name (cf. Barbara Vine, whose books were published under her real name Ruth Rendell in some countries).

I believe the policy applies according to how the name appears on the cover of any specific edition. Some books which were originally published under a pseudonym, may have been published later with the author's real name or even, in fact, with another/different pseudonym.

No, there is no need to. Only if some editions are published under the real name, they need to have both the pseudonym (as primary author) and the real name as secondary (or vice versa, if the book was first published under the real name).

Then that information is often added to their bio, even if it appears on none of their works. For example: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
