She wrote of her insecurities and how the segregation was affecting her at such a young age, all the while keeping the point of a young individual who has gone through a lot. The sexual assault that she went through with her Mother's boyfriend was a tragedy and while it affected her greatly, she was strong. Maya writes in a way that is philosophical, but shows her strength throughout all of the difficult events she endured.Even though a lot has happened in the last few chapters, she wrote it in an interesting way that captivated me and allowed me to see Maya's philosophy and hardships when she was young.
