Minttu (menthae) | 143 comments I'm here to let you (the boss in charge) know that as I wrote before the challenge began, I can participate one more week (possibly actually two) but then on 30th December I'm travelling abroad for about two and half weeks, coming back on 17th January. I won't have internet there. So my team "11 Readers Reading" will be needing someone to step in to replace me :)

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Jenne if we use our free pass for the week do I still need to link the reviews that I did have for this week in the post where I post the spot we are on?

message 157: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yeah just put free pass used to the missing review and link everyone else like normal.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Thanks will do.

message 159: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) @ Jenne. Real life has thrown a wrench into my reading challenge plans this time so Book Concierge has graciously agreed to be co-captain with me for ◆ The Ones to Beat! ◆.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments A Cursed Embrace (Weird Girls, #2) by Cecy Robson would this work for fire on cover. She has a weird glow thing going on behind her.

message 163: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Thanks Jenne! Looks like I'll be reading Lick then, right Paris? ;)

message 164: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Mandy for sure
Shy that's iffy, it's more glow than fire. I think I'm gonna have to say no. Check the other editions and see if there's one with fire.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Thanks Jenne its no problem that's why I posted I wasn't too sure about it either. I will see what else I can find.

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1202 comments This may be super picky, but if a book is shelved as "3 stars" instead of "3 star" can I still use it?

message 171: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I hate to tell you this but it has to be exact. I know that sounds silly but to keep from splitting hairs shelves have to be exact.

No problem, Jenne. I'm glad I asked!

BTW I am a Cowboys fan too!!!

I am proceeding with caution. We've been burned way too many times in the past by inconsistent play and 4th quarter choking **cough**Romo**cough**!

I am hoping for great things in January, though!

I've got a reason you can't go to the Super Bowl. lol

GO SEAHAWKS!

Sorry...carry on with your SS play discussion.

message 176: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 982 comments Paris!!! Such a perfect reason too!

Sorry Cowboys your road to the Superbowl is going through Seattle and we're healthy now. Nobody is getting past us now. :D

GO HAWKS!!!

message 177: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments hehehehe Thanks for backing my play Shelby.

Seriously, that game against the Cardinals was ridiculous. The first quarter and a half I was a little scared. Then with Hauschka missing those field goals, I was really nervous, but I shouldn't have been. Marshawn is the man. And Russell...dang we got lucky with him. The whole team is great and I think we are making all the naysayers take notice. We've got what it takes to repeat (or Re-Pete for us Hawks fans) for sure.

message 178: by Shelby (last edited Dec 23, 2014 11:49PM) (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 982 comments Exactly! Once Russ and Marshawn got rolling in the second half we were golden. Not sure what was up with Hauschka he never has those sorts of days, but should be an easy win for us this weekend to lock down home field advantage. :D

And that run of Marshawn's...EPIC!

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2457 comments Jenne --- if a book is listed as 9.5 in a series does it count for "series book 9"?

e.g. Candy Cane Murder

Also this particular book has three authors (it's really three novellas combined in one volume). So for the author - can I use ANY of their initials? Or only J and F for Joanne Fluke (the first author listed)

Thanks.

message 184: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments You can use any of the authors initials and it would work for a 9. Just mention each story in your review and you're good to go.

message 185: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Just want to remind everyone, that we roll tonight/tomorrow. If anyone is missing a review or two it's ok due to the holidays, you can go ahead and roll.

Doesn't it have to be at least 150 pages as well?

I'm reading the entire book which is well over 350 pages .. i.e. all three novellas.
Candy Cane Murder alone is 173 pages.

That's great. I've seen novellas be sometimes 20 pages.
I'll be adding this to my TBR pile.

message 189: by Steph (new)

Steph Davis | 417 comments Ok so just to be clear, any .5 novel we can use for a series number? Like 4.5 for 4 or 8.5 for 8?

message 190: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yes so long as it meets the 150 page minimum.

message 191: by JoAnne (new)

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Jenne wrote: "Yes so long as it meets the 150 page minimum."

I'm confused - the rules say

✸When using an anthology you may use any of the numbers in the book except for the .5 since this means 1/2. But you must review each story in the anthology.
✸Series # will be based on how GR has it listed.

message 192: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Stories in anthologies and novellas are often listed as 7.5, 2.5 etc. you can use a 7.5 for a 7 but not a 5 (the .5 means half) if it meets the page requirement (a lot of times they don't).

message 193: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I've debated on using Hex Appeal (Phoenix Chronicles; The Shadowfae Chronicles, #4.5; Kate Daniels, #5.6; The Dresden Files, #11.9) by P.N. Elrod a few rolls because it would work for 4,5,2, or 11.

makes sense as long as it meets the page requirement then
thanks for clearing up my confusion
hope you're feeling better

Ora (oeamis) Jenne would you accept Iced (Fever, #6) by Karen Marie Moning as first in series. It's Fever 6, Dani O'Malley 1

message 200: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1202 comments Question about setting: Let's say our Alternate is New York. Does that mean 50% of the story needs to take place in New York? Or is it 100%?

Thanks!
