The Backstrom series (Leif Persson) is expected out sometime soon. Date not yet released but I'm guessing it'll be sometime around when the TV series comes out.I'm just going through the first 3 Jorn Leir Horst releases, which are probably also worth while.
Leif Persson is my very favourite Nordic author. Out of so many wonderful writers. I am delighted if he was selected. However, also love ]Yrsa Sigurdaroottier.
I will second Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, she's one of my favorites. Also, Michael Ridpath. I recently finished Where the Shadows Lie, the first in his Iceland series, and it was really good. My local library had it, so it might be fairly available?
I have a few books by Mons Kallentoft and Karin Fossum and haven't read any of them yet, but they look interesting.
I will also just throw out Åsa Larsson, Camilla Läckberg, Henning Mankell, Kristina Ohlsson, Helene Tursten and how about the sister team of Camilla Grebe & Åsa Träff?

Our home favourite is Henning Mankell - we've ready EVERYTHING of his. started Asa Larsson, great Nordic but am willing to start new detective/Nordic reads, will read any recommended..vote me in!
I would also add Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, love her books. If not featured in 2014, what about Hakan Nesser, Karin Fossum (already mentioned) or Linn Ullmann...not exactly 'noir' but definitely Nordic.
I'd like to read both Leif G.W. Persson and Yrsa Sigurðardóttir next year, as well as Anne Holt, Asa Larsson, Hakan Nesser, Lisa Marklund, Arne Dahl and Karin Fossum.

I'll definitely be reading Leif Persson because I finally got a hold of Lime's Photograph, which won the Glass Key for Scandicrime. I notice Wahloo/Sjowall's Martin Beck series hasn't been done yet, that would be fun. There's more Finnish authors being published in English lately, which is good. Maybe someone can recommend some good authors. I'm reading a book in the Helsinki Homicide series now by Jarkko Sipilä.
Jeremy wrote: "I'll definitely be reading Leif Persson because I finally got a hold of Lime's Photograph, which won the Glass Key for Scandicrime. I notice Wahloo/Sjowall's Martin ..."Yes you will enjoy Leif Persson horrified on one hand and amused at the same time at some of the character's behaviour (Backstrom) However, he did not write Lime's Photograph. it was Leif Davison.

Jan wrote: "Definitely Mari when she is eligible again. How about Gunnar Staalesen?"Yes, I like Gunnar Staalesen. Next year. It is Yrsa's turn.
Naomi and I will be putting together the list of authors for next year in the next few days, so if you have any last minute additions, please let us know
I have just read my first Kristina Ohlsson "Hostage"- am already catching up on the others. I agree Persson is special. Now I must get my hands on Yrsa Sigurðardóttir . How could I not have read any? I look forward to seeing the list. Thank you:)
Wait, Iʻve missed the topics (and also all reads except beginners = uncontracted braille stories for children) for the past few weeks for some health issues. So what do we have for this month? :)
Letʻs try again for February - I just noticed Januaryʻs gone (with barely any reads done, and also my local library closed until December)....

We (the mods) were discussing about how we wanted to approach AotM for next year. In the past, we have laid out our plan based on books we knew were being released, as well as trying to find a mix of lesser-known authors and more popular ones.
For 2015, we'd like to hear who you would like to feature?
Our only requirements:
- they must have at least 2 books published in English/available in the US (since the majority of our memebrs are here)
- have not been a featured author in the last year (so anyone we used from De 2013 and prior is fair game)
The mods will look at the list and pick one of those nominees each month
Nominations
Leif G.W. Persson
Yrsa Sigurðardóttir
