GETTING TO KNOW YOU
>
<closed thread>What are you currently reading?
I've just finished Hot Six by Janet Evanovich, now I'm reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
I'm still listening to The Yiddish Policemen's Union and reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
I'm still listening to The Yiddish Policemen's Union plus reading Ghost a la Mode and The Hunger Games.

Left Neglected."Ooh, Connie- I was going to try to read this for this challenge. How is it?
Currently reading all these to finish up some tasks Susannah's Garden (25.11), Wither (25.12), Bad Taste in Boys (30.8), and A Conflict of Interest (50.1)
Jayme, I enjoyed Left Neglected. Not only did I learn about that neurological condition, but the book also dealt with how people want to live their lives. The main character was a smart young professional trying to balance a stressful 70 hour/week job with motherhood.
I just finished
, it was good in the beginning but failed to wrapped up at the end.I am about to begin
Currently reading to finish a double task: The Moonstone (15.1), Beethoven's Hair: An Extraordinary Historical Odyssey and a Scientific Mystery Solved (15.2), and Bloodmoney: A Novel of Espionage (25.4).Currently reading first of two: Holy Silence: The Gift of Quaker Spirituality (30.6).
Awaiting from the library: Interview With the Vampire (another group's challenge).
I've finished reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell last night and I absolutely loved it! Today I've started A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard.
This is going to be the first challenge I'm not going to be able to finish... work has been really busy. I'm currently juggling Binocular Vision: New & Selected Stories, Shoeless Joe and Unbroken: An Extraordinary True Story of Courage and Survival (on hold for a while now). None of them have been particularly compelling so far.
I'm reading The Scorpio Illusion and Mama Does Time and hope to get in The Next Always before the end of the challenge.
I've finished Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris this afternoon and now I'm reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch.
whee - prepped the ipod for tomorrow's commute into work first book up is A Book of Tongues - going to be used for the 15 pointer, 1st in series task, and I have 1 big book in progress - Lover Reborn for the SRC member who joined during the summer task
Currently reading
and will also be beginning
once the challenge begins (which I think is around now?) Not sure of timezones as I'm in Australia.
Katrina - you're right, it was around then the challenge started. I'll be starting on Love in a Dish and Other Pieces on my commute home. Yay for the weekend!
So excited to have started the season! I'm currently working on 30.1, so I'm readingBreathless and Mudbound
I've just finished reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch and I'm about to start The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks.
For the start of the challenge. I am halfway through Epic Fail and starting The Winds of War here soon. Once I finish Epic Fail I am going to start Hereafter.
Oh, I am so determined to read Les Misérables. This book (all 1463 pages) has been on my TBR list since 11/11/08. That's when i joined GR I believe. Anyway, for the past year, I have actively been trying to read it. I keep checking it out of the library and then having to turn it in before I am done. Currently I am on page 313 in the book. {The book is thick and the print is small, so it is both hard to hold and hard to read for long periods.}
So I borrowed the audio version from the library. While listening to the first part, I realized that the narrator had missed some of the story. It was then that I discovered that this version is an ABRIDGED version (12 hours long).
I DID NOT WANT TO MISS ANY OF THE STORY. So back to the library to get the book. Now I am listening and reading both!
I also started Interview With the Vampire (another book I meant to read last season on loan from the library) and A Pinch of Poison. Only the last book, A Pinch of Poison, is on my planned reading list for Summer SRC.
I am anxiously waiting for the rest of the tasks so I can fit the other two books - especially Les Misérables. Do you think I can get double credit for it?
BTW, will GR allow me to mark two separate versions - book and audio - as read?
Yay! Nicki joined SRC in August and has read Interview With the Vampire!!! So long, planned Harry Potter book (goal is to read all of that series)...move over for the Anne Rice book. Now where can I put the Les Misérables? I want as many points as possible. Can I bribe the 50 point creator? Just need a task for a French author, a Big Book, Set in France, Published in 1862, Book made into a Play, Longest on TBR, Longest taken to read once started, Classic, Most times checked out of the library, Book I should have read the first time...(trying to come up with ideas for the 50 point creator). LOL.
you could use it for Donna jo's task...it def. fits as a bit book ;) it might even be on the classics list
got my normal stack going ;)started Wicked Eddies (DLMRose's task)
White Horse (PeeBee's)
Redemption (Oreo Cookie Day)
Twenty Boy Summer (let the game's begin)
The Lifeboat (summer colors 15 pointer)
Dee wrote: "you could use it for Donna jo's task...it def. fits as a bit book ;) it might even be on the classics list"Thanks for the suggestion, Dee. I have made a note, but currently I am planning to read The Historian for that task.
I am hoping it might fit Ms. Anderson's The Final Battle for an orphan book. I know that the orphan Cosette appears in the book, but I am not far enough into it to know if she is a major character. And, I can bump off another Harry Potter book planned for that task if it fits.

I'm not sure. It's a good mystery so far, but the cultural stuff is really throwing me. I think it's helping that I'm listening to it rather than actually reading it.
