Still reading: Managing Stress: Keeping Calm Under Fire (20.9) and Lonesome Dove (50.1).Nearly through Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values (20.10).
Still plowing through David Copperfield (25.6). I'm also reading Healthy for Life(20.9) and am debating starting The Postmistress (20.2).
After being stuck on bloody Lolita for three weeks, I finally abandoned it today. Just too boring, even if I usually like books on taboo (my favourite book, after all, is End of Alice, after all, a huge homage to Lolita, just a hundred times better).Started, instead, on All My Friends Are Superheroes during my lunch break. Brilliant so far, going to be a quick read to get me back in the swing.
Also reading Not Fade Away on and off.
Started The Memory Keeper's Daughter (30.8), A Hand To Hold, An Opinion To Reject (5.10), and The Rosary Murders (20.4). I think I might have read The Memory Keeper's Daughter. It seems very familiar to me.Finished Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values (20.10).
Still reading Managing Stress: Keeping Calm Under Fire (20.9) and Lonesome Dove (50.1).
There is a lifetime movie. I read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter but didn't like it that much. I liked the movie more.
I am almost done with The Help for 20.7, but I think I may move some things around in order to get the most points possible. Red Hook Road is still not catching my attention enough and I have been reading it for a month. Maybe I will start a different book like Kisses from Hell or something.
Haven't had a lot of time to read lately. I've still got David Copperfield and Healthy for Life going. Plus I started Memorial Day, but it's a much quicker read.
I started Paper Towns last night, will probably finish today. I still have The Fortress of Solitude going slowly in the background too.

I read Some Girls Bite for 30.7 and really liked that one. I'm about half way through this one, and while it seems a bit slow, I'm still enjoying it.
it gets better ;) book 3 I wanted to hit ethan upside the head many times and book 4...well, I just want to erase the events of that one from my memory temporarily (until book 5 comes out) - I highly recommend waiting on that one
Good to know! Depending on how I feel at the end of this one, I'll use #3 for another task. I'm saving 20.6 until last minute for a book that doesn't fit anything else, so I'll probably stick in for that one.
I'm reading Deadly Blessings (Five Star Mystery), my second book for 50.1 and still hoping to finish Healthy for Life for 20.9 by next week.
Ok so I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for 30.4. I only have a couple of hours on Outlander left to listen to for 50.1 and I am working on Red Hook Road for 20.6. If I by chance have more time before the month ends I will try to fit in one more book.
I finished "Second Wave" by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough and starting "Blackbox" by Julie Schumacher.
I am holding off until Sept 1 to start my reading--I am currently out of unread books in my house, so I am reduced to doing housework (Gasp!) Guess I'll have to make a quick run to the library tomorrow.
i'm finishing up Out of Shadows - if anyone is looking for a YA book set in Africa this isn't bad - set in Zimbabwe not long after mugabe came to power - its set in a boarding school and told through the eyes of an English kid who's dad is working at the embassy

Meghan, I live in hope!
I tend to read a book as soon as I buy it. I stopped at Borders last week and picked up a sackful, but they are all for the fall challenge. It's like money burning a hole in my pocket.
I just finished Only Time Will Tell, the new book by Jeffrey Archer which I enjoyed. I haven't had too much time to read this week after my rec room got flooded by Hurricane Irene.
Nothing at the moment. I will start either Dead or Alive or Voyager later today for the Fall Challenge since they're both big books.

Haha I have been going to Borders every week for the last 3 weeks and have bought at least 30 books in that time. I can't seem to stop it is an addiction.
i'm avoiding borders - can't afford it right now - but I bought about 30 books in my first two visits
Just read Canyons of Night while waiting for tomorrow. I have a whole stack of library books, including 10 that I'll need to read before their Sept 8 due date.
All right time to start the Fall reading. I am going to startAmy & Roger's Epic Detour for 30.6, The World Above: A Retelling of "Jack and the Beanstalk" for 30.10a, Sarah's Key for 30.10b, and Stray for 30.7. Can't wait to start!
Well, so much for reading plans! I went out yesterday and bought some bargain books in a few charity shops, plus some cheap reads on my kindle and have now completely changed my plans for the challenge! :)I've just finished
by Andrea Camilleri and am now starting the 2nd in the series,
for task 15.4 (had planned to read
and
for this task!)
My husband likes to cook and frequently looks for recipes on the internet. Imagine my delight when I looked at a new recipe he had chosen to make for dinner this week and learned that it is a North African dish! Fits right in with the Fall Challenge theme!BTW, it was a delicious dish!
Dee wrote: "Bea - what did he make?"Slow Cooker Chicken Marrakesh from allrecipes.com.
Now that I look at the recipe, I see that it says "chunks of boneless chicken breast simmer for hours with sweet potatoes, garbanzo beans, tomatoes and North African-inspired spices for a hearty dinner that cooks itself while you do other things". So I guess it is not really a North African recipe so much as inspired...
Anyway, it was neat connection to my reading.
