The Three Giller Girls (authors of 'Reading Between The Wines...the story of a traveling book club") just returned from the first annual Book Club retreat on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron in Ontario.A workshop format was the focus with hands-on demonstrations from the Bites and Bevies section of their book. The Top 13 Favorite Books were discussed by all the participants with many suggestions submitted for next years list.
I'm reading The Gathering for the Man Booker Prize task, and at this point I'm extremely underwhelmed - "sexual sunlight"?!

Kathleen wrote: "I just downloaded The Paris Wife on my Kindle along with several others now I can't decide what to start first. Thanks for the motivating comment."Kathleen, have you gotten into The Paris Wife at all? I've been moving through it slowly, distracted by a few other books right now, but I'm loving it. Wondering what other people think of it
I've added a few books to my current reading selection. Queen Hereafter: A Novel of Margaret of Scotland (a fascinating history, and so far wonderfully written) and City of Glory: A Novel of War and Desire in Old Manhattan (also a great read for anyone interested in the rich history of New York's early years). I'm also re-reading Jane Eyre before I watch the movie. Just love treating myself to those tried and true classics!

I've been putting it off for a while now. So far it's OK, but not wonderful. I need to spend some time with it, I tend to keep getting distracted by other things like fiction and the internet. LOL

She is generous and giving with great insight, clearly demonstrated throughout both of her books. We are all lucky to see the world through her eyes.

Yes, I know. I added to that discussion. :)
I just finished a rash of quick reads. So I am settling down and starting Outlander today! My in-betweener book right now is Where the Truth Lies. It's good so far.
I started Middlesex today and am really loving it so far. the style of prose is really unique and beautiful.
Janet wrote: "I'm reading Left Neglected by Lisa Genova for 20.7 (Quips and Quotes.) My quote is "Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted." — John Lennon. The book is off to a great start."It's on my "must read" list. Lisa has a style that captures my heart.
Once again, I've got three going. The Thyroid Solution to finish 15.3, The Two Towers for 20.5 and The Sugar Queen for 25.6.
I'm now reading Making Money (for task 25.4), A Painted House (for task 30.6), and Lie Down With Lions (for task 15.1). All three tasks will need a second book, but, as these are from the library and I own the others, I will read these first.
I finished Making Money for 25.4 and am starting Lyon's Pride to complete that task. I am also reading Murder to Go for 20.9 and Lie Down With Lions for 15.1 book B.
Still working on The Thyroid Solution and The Two Towers plus I picked up Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet at the library today.
For Task 20.1. Most Improved Player. Cindy AL's Task: Lassiez Les Bon Temps Rouler! I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It's reputation is well deserved.
I've put aside The Thyroid Solution for the time being and have two mysteries going The Chardonnay Charade and Deadly Currents
Currently I am reading The Kite Runner and have 3 others on the pile to start: A Sense of Place, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Lyon's Pride. I started Lyon's Pride a couple of weeks ago but was not in the mood for the genre. However, I need to read it to finish 25.4.
Reading The Search for the Red Dragon for #5.1,The Triumph of Caesar for #10.3, and The Dirty Dozen: How Twelve Supreme Court Cases Radically Expanded Government and Eroded Freedom for #10.9
finished up The Dirty Dozen todaynow working on Faro's Daughter (respect your elders); The Accidental Time Machine (Helen's 25 point task); Agility Training for You and Your Dog: From Backyard Fun to High-Performance Training (for DLM rose's task) and listening to Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (part 1 of sandy's task)
I am currently reading Pretty Little Liars for 50.1 and Scarlet Moon: A Retelling of "Little Red Riding Hood" for 15.10
Delicious Dee Challenge Addict wrote: "finished up The Dirty Dozen today..."What did you think of it, Dee? I read most of one chapter today to my hubby - the one about asset forteiture - and now he wants to read the whole book when I'm done!
i liked it...i did a chapter/case a night...i liked that they weren't overly long and full of legal mumbo-jumbo...and it definately made me interested in actually reading some of the official opinions about the cases...specially the Japanese internment camp one and then the one involving UofM law school
