thanks...this is the first one i've read by her, but i've seen them all over the place and i'm always looking for something new to try
Jayme wrote: "that was a first time read author for me too. I love that cat. :) He is a smart cat."I like them too. If anyone's looking to read one who reads series out of order, keep to the earlier books. The most recent ones aren't as good.
yeah it is and i've heard the same...the author is like 90 years old now...so there is some debate over whether she is still writing or if its a ghost writer
I'm almost done with The Emancipator's Wife for 30.3, plus working on Great Expectations for 20.3 and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass for 30.2
Just finished Carrot Cake Murder for DLM Rose's Virtual Block Party. Now reading Bonds of Justice for part of #15.6
I'm thoroughly enjoying Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food LifeAt first, I feared that I would spend 350 pages being preaches to. But by chapter two I realized that Barbara Kingslover is such a wonderful story teller that there wouldn't be a bad part of this book. I highly recommend it. It may not make you totally change the way you eat, but I guarantee the you will think about how you eat, and enjoy the thought of being a home farmer.
I'm still plodding through Great Expectations by Charles Dickens for 20.3.I'm also reading Rose's Garden by Carrie Brown for 25.10.
Read Johnny Tremain which completed Task #25.4, and now reading Herndon's Lincoln for the first part of Sheila's task about Illinois
Faith wrote: "I am a newbie trying this challenge with a girlfriend. I am reading Guernesy,Twilight, Summer Sisters.I am back to reading books so that I can challenge myself and not be online so much at the libr..."Welcome, my friend. Good luck with your reading.
As for me, I'm alternating between Like Gold Refined and Intervention (needed a genre change XD)
I'm in the middle of three books right now--Hay Fever, Where Death Delights, and Freedom Is Not Enough: The Moynihan Report and America's Struggle over Black Family Life--from LBJ to Obama
I am reading:
I was going to read Graveyard Book earlier, but my grandson stole it from me. (not that I am complaining)
The Souls of Black Folk, Madame Bovary, The Blue Fairy Book, The Thorn Birds, The Gulag Archipelago, All the King's Men, Trilby, Complete Stories and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, The Hunt for Red October, 2666, Invisible Man, Stone of Tears, White Fang, and A World of Laughter, A Wold of Tears.I'm hoping to start the next challenge reading either one or zero books, and with all of these finished. That's going to be hard for me.
I finished "The Woman In White" by Wilkie Collins" Finally! It was a long book. Still working on Boudica.
I really liked Woman in White. Talk about long books......I'm reading 2666. It's divided into 5 Parts. I just finished Part 4 last night.
Finished Maid Marian and started (actually almost finished with) The School of Essential Ingredients. I am also listening to Crisis. Will probably start The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Decked Out to finish the Abraham Lincoln task.
I actually finished White Fang, and I dropped a bunch that I'm not interested in reading anymore. But then I just started more. Madame Bovary, The Thorn Birds, All the King's Men, Trilby, The Hours, The Hunt for Red October, 2666, Invisible Man, Stone of Tears, Red Lily, Poems by Samuel Greenberg, Cien Años de Soledad, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Organic Chemistry, and A World of Laughter, A World of Tears.
Geez lousie Rhea. I finished "Boudica and starting "The Curious Incident of A Dog In The Night Time"
I finished 100 Cupboards and startedFreezer Burn and The Wind in the Willows. I must get back to Great Expectations. So many to read yet ---
I just finished Battle Royale which was a great read. Now I'm reading The Prestige and Peppermint Twisted.
Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "I finished "The Notebook""What did you think of it? I didn't think it was as powerfully romantic as everyone makes it out to be.
I am so hyped to FINISH 2666 this week! It's been a long haul. I'm not sure what I think of it and will have to ponder it for awhile.I'm listening toBetween, Georgia and have started Pride and Prejudice.
Just started The Devil in the White City Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America for the 2nd part of #30.3

I loved it. I thought it was romantic. You have two elderly people married to each other. She has altemizer and every day she falls in love with him for the first time.
I finished "The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon and starting "Puppy Chow is Better Than Prozac"
I just finished up My Name is Mary Sutter for Stand Up For Your Rights. Now onto
A Cat's Diary: How The Broadway Production of Cats Was Born for my musical theatre book for the know your bithday/birthmonth.
also still working on Tried by War : Abraham Lincoln as Commander in Chief about Abe Lincoln...
and I have 2 Jude Deveraux books in the pile for the book featuring a librarian (An Angel for Emily) and The Mulberry Tree for know your numbers (Jude Deveraux is the same number as me)
whoops and forgot Water Bound for the Present, as part of the Past/Present/Future for the Tarot Challenge
I finished The Hours, Stone of Tears, and Madame Bovary. I didn't start any other books that I haven't finished either. The Thorn Birds, All the King's Men, Trilby, The Hunt for Red October, 2666, Invisible Man, Red Lily, Poems by Samuel Greenberg, Cien Años de Soledad, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Organic Chemistry, and A World of Laughter, A World of Tears.
I just finished A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess and I'm ready to start The Alchemist and Ava's Man. I only have five books left!
Thank you. I am waiting for 2 books from the library--keeping my fingers crossed I don't have to find substitutes.
I am working on Dracula by Bram Stoker and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson for Past and Present on Beth's Task. Then I will need to find a lighter read for the Future part. These two are a little thick especially since Dracula is the B&N Classic series version.
Meghan--how do you like Dracula so far? It's one of the creepiest books I ever read! Much better, I think, than any of the other knock-offs. :P
I finished People of the Book which I really enjoyed. I just started Fireflies in December. I am also still listening to Crisis.
I'm working on The ABC Murders, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose and still have Great Expectations on the backburner to try and finish.
I'm catching up on newspapers and magazines that I put aside while I was working on the challenge. I'm trying to catch up before Sept. 1

I do not get creeped out really easily so I found it funny when I had a weird dream about Dracula the other night.
