Interestingly, Goldsmith is a Harvard law-school professor who was estranged from his mobster stepdad for 20 years. This books is an account, in part, of the process of reconnecting with him and trying to get to the bottom of what sounds like a pretty complicated relationship. He not only tries to solve the Hoffa case in this book; he also pours out many, many stories of his father's misdeeds aside from the Hoffa case, and apparently they are manifold.
