It isn't in my top five In Death books but it kept me riveted.

I guess it worked for what it's meant to be. It's just not as much my cuppa tea. But I realize that's a personal thing - I'm sure many may love this much futuristic stuff. I guess I also miss the "hunt" - the getting into the psycho serial killer's mind, figuring the who, what, why out & Eve's tracking them down. I know she figures this whole scifi thing out but it just felt different for some reason.

Yes, Michelle...me too. Love that this book has the family Thanksgiving gathering in it and we celebrate Thanksgiving next week. Perfect timing.
Also had to laugh during the chaos when Eve & Roarke are evacuating the lab which is set to destruct & Eve sticks Roarke with carrying the screaming baby out...their exchange is priceless & hilarious.
It was one of those absurd moments where they're in a life-or-death situation and she's more unnerved holding the baby than reaching safety. It was brilliant!

I'm so happy Roarke's mother's family is normal and sweet.

While he was walking with Eve in the garden and start thinking of activities for the little ones , I wondered what he'd be like with their own children. I know he'll be a great dad( deliberate choice of word because I don't thinks he'll be a father ;-)) his so protective and concerned for Eve's well being ,I wondered how hell curb himself from going overboard. I suppose that would be the balance that Eve brings.
I also wondered what Summerset's reaction to all the Irish family was. These are moment I wish Robb does a behind the scene or small vignettes. All these farmers and Irish to boot, descending upon his domain.
As if Eve doesn't have enough nightmares she had to leave the still births. Clever , clever Roarke. They know each other so well that in trying to safe each other they know just what buttons to push. That was both ways.

Nice distinction between Father & Dad, Michelle. A man can father a child but it takes a special man to be a real dad. Roarke would be that to any child. Although, it's a LOL moment when either he or Eve have to hold a baby!

me too! I missed our discussions so much!
Glad to hear from you. Drop in any time you have a moment or two. Love discussing these books & all with you! :)

LOL Aj! That was just a fun scene with Trina...and a really intimate scene when Roarke discovered the surprise! ;)

And loved when Eve was falling asleep, still mulling the murder, and described it as "She didn't want to cause pain, so there were feelings there. But no passion. Roarke, if I ever had to kill you it would be violent and painful." Only Eve can pull off an endearment like that lol.
So true, Penni. I loved the conversations between Roarke & Eve in this one as they talked of how it would be to lose the other...beautiful sentiments. And then our Eve has such a unique way of expressing those things.
All the coat envy was priceless...Peabody, especially. She is such a hoot - just love her.

I loved that Eve expresses her pleasure at receiving the coat...she often brushes off gifts - especially jewelry. But she loves the coat.
I believed Eve thought that coat help define her first as a cop, which is one of the reasons she loves it so much. And, that Roarke "got" her in how he had it designed.

I can picture Eve strolling into a room in that coat...a powerful figure, no doubt. She doesn't "need" clothes/stuff like most women, doesn't use them as a "statement", but this coat is her.

LOL...yes, love, love Peabody! And her obsession with her own butt. Does this make my butt look bigger?
