Against her better judgment, she teams up with a young policeman, Officer Dan, and together they set out to discover the real truth behind Sally’s disappearance.

Only to find out she’s dealing with a much bigger problem, a serial killer, and she may be the next victim…

Definitely interested in reading more. I like Mattie’s snarky attitude and while unfortunate it’s good she has the mind and training to protect herself, well most of the time lol. Will definitely be reading book two!

This book is off to an interesting start. It doesn't skimp on the gory details of the ghosts' deaths. I assumed correctly that Officer Dan was going to end up believing Mattie. I am also going to assume that he becomes an important ally later on. I am currently trying to get use to Mattie's attitude. I'm not a huge fan of the way she is written. (hide spoiler)]

Aww I think Dan and Mattie would be cute, but he is a little old for her at the moment. In tens years it will be less weird, but she is only at the age where you can learn to drive while he is in college. Maybe they will be older later in the series? I want to know what Jake's decision is. I never really liked him, but I also don't really know his character. I love how this love drama is wedged in between all the ghosts and kidnappings. I was not a huge fan of Mattie's personality, but it was tolerable. The ending was alright. I figured that the Olsons probably had something to do with the murders since there weren't that many characters in the book. Overall, the book was okay. I feel like Dan's sudden power feels like a bit of a last minute addition to the story. How could he have never noticed that he could also see some ghosts before? Also, the fact that Dan is 20 years old and somehow a police officer will always prevent me from taking this series seriously. (hide spoiler)]

I try to enjoy these books, but it is difficult. None of the characters are ever someone you really care about. Dan was probably the best from the first book, but now he is apparently not a great person because he went behind Mattie's back and started dating her best friend (since Meg is over 18 and it's legal). Then again did Dan ever do anything to make it seem like he was in love with Mattie? (hide spoiler)]

The story feels very redundant. Mattie sees a evil ghost, she gets hurt, someone saves her, she recovers, and then repeat. I think that must've happened maybe 5-6 times already in this book? It is really starting to get to me… have something else happen! And can Dan please stop calling Mattie "Squirt"…. (hide spoiler)]

I don't think I am going to finish this series. The stories are dull, the characters are unlikable, and the writing just doesn't agree with me. These books are short, but it takes so much effort to pay attention and finish them. It just isn't worth it. 1/5 stars. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ OMG I am livid on her behalf. How could her two BFF's hook up behind her back. And Dan, wtf, are you serious, wasn't he just telling her he loved her in the first book. I feel so bad for her. That's such a betrayal from both of them :( Hell maybe this Caleb guy can be a nice replacement? I mean he can see ghosts too so she has someone who will understand her more than anyone else, regardless if Dan is some demon slayer or not.
I also really like her therapist. Talk about someone who goes above and beyond. Not to mention he actually listens and believes her. Most shrinks would just give her meds and assume she's nuts. So far I'm really into this especially now with the added romantical drama. (hide spoiler)]

And I'm surprised I like the entrance of Eli so much. Kinda feel slighted by Dan. While I feel bad for him finding out the truth about his birth parents and gaining a family, I still think what he did was wrong and shady. Not to mention he's still constantly making remarks about ppl seeing ghosts as freaks etc, I mean how does he expect her to feel smh. I really liked him book one and now I too just want him to go away. (hide spoiler)]

I'm supremely saddened for Dan and Mattie. I mean sure I was hating on Meg but damn if I wanted her to die. But omg when Dan said he would have made the same choice even knowing Meg would die, well damn if he didn't win me back. I'm still team Eli but he's not her person yet like Dan is.
Ahhhh and what's this madness with the Doc. I'm dying here and if the urgency to read this one was a lot, now I'm ready to drop everything else to move on. Can't believe how much I am loving this series and how long it sat (book one at least) on my kindle until now. Man I was missing out. (hide spoiler)]

Damn if this story wasn't super emotional. I'm hoping we hear more about what Mary went through, a whole year she spent with that evil man. Yuck.... Glad he's gone. Also glad her soul while broken was fixed and now she silenced her powers. It's about time, I just hope she gets the break she deserves. Since losing her foster sister to that psycho, her life has been a non-stop mess and even in this book she can't even get five minutes of sleep. So excited where the other series goes......
