message 2564: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I REALLY need to start reading your stuff, Kriss. Seriously. I started and then I got so caught up in my writing that I've lost track!!! I'll read this :) And I'll try to catch up on your other stuff too! Eventually... ;D Haha.

message 2565: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments Haha, alright... But note that this isn't my normaly style of writing. I normally write in third person, and this is first so more likely than not it'll suck :/

message 2566: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I love books in first person the most :) I can't write in third person unless it's a short story or a role play, honestly. I prefer first person. I feel like it connects the reader with the main character more, or something?

Anyway, I'm going to read it once I write about 4,000 more words ^_^

message 2567: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments Yeah, I think it kinda depends on the style of third person and how the author writes it. Sometimes stories are better in first and sometimes in third. It also depends on the story... Haha, I'm pretty horrid at writing in first person I think... And there might be a few her's and she's instead of I's and me's XD

Lol, alrighty :)

message 2568: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I agree with that. Twilight is best if first person, where as Harry Potter is best in third :) Hehe. Oh my xD That's funny xD

message 2569: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments Indeed... Romances are usually better in first person, but sometimes they're better in third. I really kinda think it depends on how the author writes. XD

message 2570: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I definitely agree. I've found that I write MUCH better in first then in third. I've never understood second, though... I get confused with that one. I don't understand how it works? o.O Anyway, I totally get what you mean.

message 2571: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments Yeah... I think I probably write better in third, but it's kinda fun to write in first too sometimes... I don't get second at all >< lol, I'm not even trying it.

message 2572: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I think it's funnest (and easiest, in my opinion) to write in first... It's funny, because before I read Twilight I'd never really read any books in first, so I was all excited to try writing that way... And it worked! :D Hahaha. I still need to read more of Seventh Dimension... But I need to read Painless, too :) Haha. And I need to write! Urgh! So busy! xD Hahaha.

message 2573: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments XD Really? I think it's easy to write in both... Sorta. I've been writing in third for way longer though, so that's more natural to me. And Twilight was the frist, first person book I read too :P Ironic, haha... Also, you do indeed need to read The Seventh Dimension... Painless is a much quicker read though, considering it's still really short o.o

message 2574: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I can write in third person. It's automatic for me when I'm role playing. I just really prefer first person when I'm writing a story. I don't know what it is, it's just more... appeaking, I guess, to me? Haha, yes, ironic xD Then I find all of these other books in first person and I was like "Whoa... I thought Stephenie Meyer was one of the few who did that" xD Haha. Yes, I do. Yeah xD That's why I'm going to start with Painless...

The internet keeps distracting me xD Hahahahaha.

message 2575: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments XD I learned to write, originally from role playing, so that's why it's easier for me to write in third I suppose, then in first. And it's also why most of the time I use so much discription, haha. Indeed... The Seventh Dimension is one of my longest stories... It's over 200 pages, I think.

XD yes... Internet tends to do that sometimes, unfortunetly.

message 2576: by Jayda (new)

Jayda No way, me too! xD Haha. Except, my role playing back then was CRAPOLA. Horrible. I mean, one-liners... and illiteracy as all get out. It makes me sad thinking about it xD That's probably why I never wrote a book back then. But I was twelve and thirteen, so... Haha :) Fourteen was my peak age. That was when I wrote my first novel ^_^ I try not to use description much. I describe characters, maybe the chaos, but I try to stay away from that. I was scarred for life by books that described WAYYYY too much when I was younger. Now I just skip and skim over description xD Haha. Wow, nicely done! :D

Yes, it does :(

message 2577: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments Haha, awesome.... Ah... I sucked majorly back then too >< Twas a oneliner and everything... Goddness I've come quite a way from then, I think... I was actually writting a book before I started role playing, but it was utterly horrible. I love discription too much to stay away from it, haha. I love describing things and reading descriptions.

Yes. XD I don't know how many times it's destracted me..

message 2578: by Jayda (new)

Jayda Holy crap. We are sooo alike. I was trying to write a book, as well (total fantasy, as in its own world and everything x.x) and I couldn't get through it. It's crap xD Haha. I'm not terrible at describing, I just don't enjoy it. Probably because I don't like to read it, so I don't want to put my readers through it xD I've been trying to figure out a way to keep the story flowing while describing and a published author suggested I put description into actions... Like: "She moved her blonde hair from her hazel eyes and looked at me, wiping her pale skin before saying,..." that sort of thing. When I go back to edit Rebel I'm going to redo that so it flows more.

It was horrible during NaNo, too xD

message 2579: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments I know, haha... Mine was my only realistic one ever... Sorta... It was about a girl who ran away into the wilderness of africa >< majorly sucked. My chapters were like, three hundred words long and the writing was horrible. I love describing for some reason. Mostly expressions and eyes, along with appearances. It's interesting describing weapons too, and I'm partly addicted to describing fighting scenes. Those are some of my favorites, haha. And I know what you mean by the descriptions into actions... Most of my descriptions are in actions or in the change of expression someone takes on with a shift in emotion.

I actually wasn't that bad in NaNo, suprisingly o.o

message 2580: by Jayda (new)

Jayda Hahaha xD Nice idea! :) I don't know how long my chapters were... They weren't short, considering how ridiculous I was at writing, and back then I described a LOT, but it was just baddddd. Well, I actually just found the document... The first chapter was about 2,500 words long! I'm surprised xD Haha. I LOVE describing fight scenes ♥ I just find that, out of pure habit, I describe at a very minimum. That's the best kind of description! :) It helps things flow, I think!

Really? I was horrible! xD It doesn't help that I'd gotten a facebook about two months befoer that xDDD

message 2581: by Krys (new)

Krys (krisslee) | 292 comments xD Except it was completely unrealistic and the writing was horrid... Really? Mine were little migit chapters! Haha, I only started writing like a year and a half ago though, so I think I've made it pretty far since then, considering my writing is actually . . . Um readible... Most of the time XD I didn't use to describe all that much, and what I did was HORRIBLE. It was absolutly terrible, I'd look mine up but I'm not on my other computer right now... Actually, I might have deleted it by now o.o The way I see it though, is that we all have to start somewhere or another. Fighting scenes are some of the funnest. I love doing the research of moves and weapons and such.. Oh, and sword techniques. I love researching on how to use swords, me and my friend have even gone as far as messing around with long wooden sticks and wacking each other with them :/ Yep. I kinda also think it depends on how well the author writes description and if the description is good, or doesn't have anything to do with anything like. "Mary was walking in the dark. She loved the grass and it's delicate way of flowing green around her. She loved the velveteen expanse of sky above. Her mind wandered to these beautiful things as Jack rambled on about something that was probably relevent, and much more important than the emerald grass at her feet and the black sky above, dotted with crystalline slivers of stars." Like that.. I think for it to work you'd have to have it be apart of what was actually happening, instead of rambling on about something that doesn't matter. I've read books where authors have done that before, and that kind of description sucks :/

Haha really? I was actually not that bad o.o I wrote at least 3000 words a dea, usually.

Anyhoo... Here's the next chapter for Painless... This one is almost 5000 words long too, oh and I think I'm falling in love with Keller already <3

Sella Malin I started a new story! It's called Shards and it's my second realistic fiction novel ever. Haha. :) Please check it out and leave me a comment!

http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/5...

Here's what it's about:

Dustin and Miley have been friends all their lives. They've shared jokes, wild times, and deep secrets. Even though they've always lived half an hour away from each other, they have still managed to keep up a close relationship – until they turn fifteen and enter high school.

Then the crazy, chaotic world of high school changes everything.

Dustin and Miley don't go to the same high school. Both of them get so busy that they don't see each other for the whole semester.

When Miley sees Dustin for the first time in five months, he's not the same person anymore. He is a different Dustin than the one Miley knew all her life. Miley begins to wish she could turn back time and stop the transformation from the kind, sensitive boy she once knew to the cold, indifferent person he has turned into. She doesn't know who he has become, and she's scared of the change in him.

And soon Miley realizes that she can't recognize the person standing inside her own skin anymore.

Shards is a story about change, growing up, and the tearing apart of friendship.

message 2597: by MayDerp (new)

MayDerp | 2 comments Wow... I haven't posted in... don't ask me how long.
I just started a story a little while ago, called Afterlife. The general summary is in the link.

http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/5...

So far I think the main character (Brynna) is going to fail a mission, or have to see someone die as her first assignment as a guardian angel. Then she is given her murderer to protect, but for some reason she can't remember him except for his last words to her. The story is about her attempting to find out who her murderer really was, and her avenging herself, but at the end she is toying with the life of the person she wishes to kill all along. I was thinking, that for a little extra twist, Brynna falls in love again with the guy (since they were originally dating when he killed her).

What do you guys think? XD
COMMENT!!!!! :)

Acacia (acaciaa) Hey, look! It's a new story!

This first chapter was an official pain in the ass to write. I don't like first chapters. But I do very much like this story. So, read it, please! Yay!

message 2599: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin I just wrote and posted Chapter Eight of Shards! Yay, Shards is 7 thousand words now! :D Aaaand this is the longest chapter I've written so far in this book. All the others have been half pages minimum, 2.5 pages max, but this chapter turned out to be almost 7 pages. O_O I have NO idea how that happened. Haha! :P But anyways, this was a fun chapter to write so you should read it and leave me a big, fat, juicy comment! :)
