TeriD | 127 comments I'm looking for a Historical Romance book I read between 3-5 years ago. The heroine and her friend sneak into a party at the Hero's house. The h runs into the H's bedchamber to escape a drunken, handsy fellow. She isn't aware it's his bedchamber and the H is in bed, reading a book ( he's an infamous rogue, has some scandal attached to him, and has these debauched parties often but is in bed reading ;-)) He sends her home and the carriage is in an accident, leaving her temporarily paralyzed. She remembers being in his bedchamber, so she and everyone else thinks he had his wicked way with her. I think they are forced to wed and of course he is none too happy about this. Of course, she remembers everything (not sure if it's before or after they wed), helps him become a better man, they fall in love, etc. I think there may have been rumors that he killed his wife or his father killed his mother and the h helps him solve the mystery and end the rumors or something. He may be a duke.
I've checked my KU and local library history, as well as looking thru my kindle books but haven't found it yet. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Mai | 1280 comments I found one searching online that fits your description. It's called The Dissolute Duke by Sophia James. It was published in 2013.

Review:
The heroine gets herself talked into going to a house party at the home of a totally scandalous duke with her friend, who locks herself in her room while the heroine gets trapped in the hall. She flees a lecherous Lord, running right into the bedroom of the dissolute duke. The hero-- the said duke-- is sympathetic and kind, and after scaring her a bit by kissing her, he loads her in his carriage to take her home. Alas, on the way, the carriage has an accident and the heroine is injured. All she can remember is the kiss and assumes he "took advantage,'" so she insists he marry her, then vanish. She has a bunch of protective big brothers that it happens as she wants.
