Sarah (sd1234) | 34 comments Sometimes, multiple companies use the same ISBN when publishing.
For example, 9780152280505 has been published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
9780152280505 has also been published by Harcourt Brace.
Both companies were publishing the same book: Fish Eyes by Lois Ehlert.

Since Goodreads uses ISBN as a unique identifier, how does Goodreads handle this? It does not allow me to add an additional record of the book using the same ISBN but showing that it was published by a different company. How does Goodreads decide which company to credit as the publishing company in this case?

Import bots have the annoying tendency to change publishers' names to the current one, no matter the book's publishing date. I have reverted the latest name change on the book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
